Default Anyone try these in their w/k-c/k axles?

Hpi heavy duty over drive ring and pinion

Part #: HPIC6329

I'm just curious as I've stripped out the ring and pinion a few times, with both stock w/k gears and stock axial gears.

It's going in a rock basher project.

Thanks guys

I am in the process of putting them in. I had to grind a little off the back of the ring gear because it was rubbing on the case. I seems like a very strong metal. I had a set of the e-savage gears #82047 in for over a year and there are no signs of wear at all. They are the stock gear ratio though. If you don't need the overdrive then I would definately recommend those.

I was wrong, I am installing part #86329. I think it is pretty much the same. 36T/14T gear ratio. I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks, I'm going to be powering mine with either a fuze 5800kv or vxl 3500kv motor, axial tranny, so hoping using the over drive front and rear will help bump up top end speed a little while still having the gears hold their own.

I've worked out the shimming/mesh for the diffs, it just seems that no matter what, that's my weakest links besides the plastic shafts

Wanna sell a ring gear and a pinion? The savages, just 1 set for the rear as the front always has no wear when I move them to the rear.

yeah, I got them in and shimmed out. I haven't put any power to them yet but the feel good spinning them by hand. The biggest thing was that I had to grind the back side of the ring gear down because it rubbed on the case.

any pictures?

Are you only putting them in the front? I'm thinking about using them in both front and rear for a set higher ratio Foff axles.

I broke 3 sets of HPI 86336 HD Final Gear Sets. Chipped Teeth off the pinion all 3 times in the rear. Any Ideas? The front is holding up fine... I'm running in open sandy area with a Velineon on 2s.

I don't think there are any gears tougher than those. One thought I had is instead of using screws to fasten the case halves together, use a bolt and nut. It would help eliminate some of the flex in the case to help keep the teeth in better mesh.
