| shock issue
morning guys, ive writen up a few times that ive turnt my WK into a crawler now and its looking/handling great but now ive put a different shell on it with bumpers and winch etc im have a problem with the shocks, when i se the truck down on its wheels, the shocks still travel around half inch then settles, never did that before i think its due to the weight above anyways does anyone know what oil is in the stock WK shocks and what oil i can put in, also any idea on better springs on can put on them or run on the inside too?? cheers Ben |

Its ok for some settling, allows for bounceback or recoiling. but if you want to remove some or limit your shocks downward travel, then my advice is to try different shock oils. There is no way for anyone to guess what you'll need because 1. The type if shock 2. The weight if the truck 3. The X, Y, Z set up of your shocks to the truck. I would suggest looking into a losi kit and go from there. for internal shocks. Ace hardware has a pretty good selection of springs in the nuts a bolts isle. This is where I go to tune my shocks in. Sometimes it involves a little bit of wire cutting and compressing the spring to see what may happen. Remember, this is a toy truck. So when compressing a spring, think about that. They are cheap and if you don't cut it, you can bring it back. |

Hpi sells different springs for it. Rpp hobby has internal springs or u can go to just about any hardware store and they usually have springs of all sizes.

thanks for the advice guys heres a pic of the truck, the shocks never sagged with a lexan shell, this one is not lexan and is a bit heavier took it for its first test run since fitting the shell and noticed it was catching the wheels at the back, but is i remove the sagging the body clears the wheels |

U may have to trim ur body unless u get so narrower tires and wheels.

yea wheels and tyres are being replaced soon anyways, just trying to aid the shocks abit |

Some sag isn't bad actually some droop is optimal Helps u "reach" over ledges. When u get ready to switch tires let me know I've been looking for some stock ones for my truck

yea i dont mind a bit but its seems alot when i release grip of the truck, just dont seem right. only want to stiffen it all up slightly. as you can see in the pic the tread have been cut, but if your interested in them still ill let ya know |

Looks like a lot of extra weight with the steel chassis and the body. I think stiffer springs are in order. As stated already, HPI has replacement springs in heavier rates that fit those shocks perfectly. You will also need to play around with oil to make the stiffer springs work the way you would like.

cheers stolps, the chassis is a plastic one though, or is that what you call the style of it? lol any idea what oil are in the standard shocks so i dont go buying the same stuff? |

quick online search and found this TowerHobbies.com | 87601 HPI Racing Shock Set 77mm-117mm Assembled Wheely King they say 100w, off the top of my head that doesn't seem right, but its been a LOOOOONG time since I wasted time on a WK shock |

why do you want to stiffen it up? a crawlers suspension needs to be softer to articulate. as said, some sag is fine and will help the truck drive better.
