| Monster KING! Grave Robber
I had been watching Monster Jam months ago and realised all of my solid axle trucks were Crawlers and that I've never owned a solid axle monster truck even though I can be a bit of a solid axle snob in 1/1 Jeeps. I figured I had enough WK parts to build one and not have to spend toooooo much money on new stuff. I won't post pics of the parts score from a month ago that has supplied this truck with a build trans since you've all see that thread already. It will be using a HPI Grave Robber body, which seems to be approriate for it considering the number of used, salvaged, and left over parts in it Here's the rest of the pics Here it is just slapped together for the first time. Here it is with a couple trucks that were in at work for repair Did the stretch with P3 push rods and different rod ends for LCA's, P2's for the rear UCA's and will be using E-Maxx Tubez Draglinks for the front UCA's....just been too lazy to do so just yet. It also is using chopped down Revo driveshafts, some TLT suspension brackets for the UCA's, CK LCA mounts, even added some extra Axial AX10 wheel hexes to it. It will also be using all Traxxas electronics from a spare servo, new XL5 ESC and Traxxas Link radio. The original plan was to paint it Candy Red and back that with Metallic black, bedline the vinyl portion of the roof, paint the windows candy red tehn add red LED's to the headlights and blower scoop then a red LED strip on the roof of the body to light up the inside, but I'm not thrilled with how this one turned out so that will be saved for a second body that I'll shoot in Spring and just use metallic black for the main color and the rest of the paint will be the same then I will do the lighting on that one too. |

| Re: Monster KING! Grave Robber Thanks They're out there built like this, just not as common as box stock bashers or crawlers Quote:
The body is a HPI Grave Robber intended for the Savages and Maxxes, wish it would also fit my E-Revo, but the rear posts go through the rear window | |

Got the electronucs installed! Also got an Onyx 5000mAh 2s pack to run in it since the same size Venom I already had wouldn't fit without more cutting than I wanted to do. And it fits nicely too! |

Actually, I've been thinking about some Maxx Mashers on 3.2" RPM Stablemaxx rims, but want to try a variation on ThunderVP's LST axle set up. Might be able to use the LST CVD's' knuckles, and 17mm hexes.

I finally yook it out tonight for a bashing session, and loosened up the screws holding the UCA brackets, lost the nuts holding the blower scoop in place, and maybe killed the old Traxxas 2075 servo. Worst part, didn't get any on video since it broke before I got a chance to start rolling video!

Guess I'm long overdue for an update, in the summer of 2012 I got my hands on 4 of the RCP/MIP CVD's for both axles and just tonight I swapped in the 1/10 VXL that had been in my 1/16 Fiesta until I pulled the Sidewinder/4600 2-Pole combo from my M03 Mini Cooper to swap into that. Since I just finished, I don't have any videos of it running around just yet, hopefully I can get one or two before the weekend is out.

The Robber now has new shoes, big ones! I'm using MIP's Slash 4x4 hexes, everything seems to fit nicely too. I will be picking up some heat shrink tubing to use on the CVD's and the grubs helping to hold the hexes to the stubs. And here's how they look mounted up on the right side as as well as in comparison to the stock rubber. And the full look! For reference, here it was shortly before the initial build was completed. |

Not yet, still have a few thi gs to do. I'm going to swap on the CK black TVP's, replace the plastic tie rodss with more Revo pushrods, will probably paint a new Grave Robber body in metallic black, and get a good 3s LiPo for it.

Thanks! It hasn't been too bad of a build, especially since this build has been an ongoing nearly 3 year build puntuated by monry shortages.
