My wheely king crasher

Crawler/basher=crasher

This is a rebuild of my original rc truck i got back in 05. It has been lots of different trucks but recently i have gotten hooked on monster trucks but i still love crawlers so i decided to build a go fast crawler monster.

So far it has:
Integy chassis
Strc front lowers
Custom uppers and rear lower links
Rcp front chubs and knuckles
Rear Integy chubs
Strc wideners
Everything else is stock

My rear axle case is busted so hopefully this weekend i can place a order at Rcp for a axle case, mip cvd's, and possible another set of chubs and knuckles.

Eventually Im going to run brushless but untill the drivline is beef Im going to run a 27t on a sidewinder. Im still undecided on wheels and tires.

Your truck is looking great so far"thumbsup"I'm not normally a fan of integy but those chassis plates are nice.

I am also in the process of building a WK monster basher. If your looking to beef up your axles I figured I would share with you what someone on rcmt.net did with me.

He said the pinion gear is a bit of a pain to get the e clip on but otherwise they hold up great and cost much less than the WK HD gears. I plan to brushless as well so these are what I will be going with.

I was checking out ur thread over there and saw that ill be getting those for sure.

I like the Integy plates a lot but i want to swap it out for the Strc setup cause the the secondary shock mount positions. I've always wanted to do a wheely pounder also.

Those are definitely the gears to get for the diffs. They are super strong compared to the stock gears. Make sure you move the shims around to get a good close mesh. Also grind a small flat on the face of the pinion, it helps a ton with installation. I will put up a pic if I can find it.

Talk about some fun holy cow! Why did I ever part that truck for other projects.

adamargue 09-05-2012 05:51 AM

That truck is sweet mike. I like them tires. That's how i felt about my truck it was just a blast to drive.

It works great. Just need to finish up some small details and clean it up. Should I paint it or not? What is your plan? Are you keeping the shine?

Ya I built it out of 3/16 aluminum. I used all the stock dimensions for my suspension lengths and angles. And i also clocked the motor.http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/09/06/epereny7.jpg

Decided to go with 4wheel steering.

My homemade servo/battery plate from my old wk comp rig hit the upper link mount some so i had to modify it to fit.

Took some of that angle out of it too so the servo isn't pointed at the ground so much.

I'm not really into making threads. I just wanted to show someone what I could do. Made all my own parts, that is the best form of satisfaction on my build. It was a wheely that was given a crawler conversion. Then I couldn't leave well enough alone.

That's exactly how my truck started got it when i was 16 After saving money from my summer job and have tinkered with it ever sense. i try to do as much home built stuff as i can. Its a little harder now that i don't have acess to my dads shop any more. But i do what i can.

My girlfriend surprised me today and bought me a new set of wheels and some springs for this rig. I can't decide on tires i like imex tires but most of them are discontinued. The pullers are ok i want something aggressive looking.

What do u guys think.

Just as a heads up to you, if you get those gears also pick up a set of small and large shims. Here is a small write up I did about shimming the diffs and also links to the shims:

Need Some Ideas

Also be aware of some of the pitfalls of the gear set. They work fantastic at 1/2 the price of the WK HD gears, but be aware:

hpi 82047 E-savage Bevel gears VS. HPI 86336 HD FINAL GEAR SET wheely king

adamargue 09-09-2012 08:18 AM

I ran my rcp hd ring and pinion for a long time. I didn't shim it right and stripped the rear ring gear. The only downfall is the case attached to the ring gear is pressed into the ring gear so i don't know if u can take them apart to remove the locker for spider gears. But other then that they are awesome never had much trouble with them.

Ill try and pm zo-so and see if there is a way to put spider gears in.

Got it wired up and running today. Needs some fine tuning. I don't have good servos in it yet so gotta get them too.

Mounted the body my girlfriend bought for me. Not exactly scale but i think its cool. Needs a little trimming.
