Hi, I have had the RC4WD steel gears for a while now, have been working great, but ive been using the stock 21 tooth wheely king pinion, Im not sure how many tooth the spur is but I was wondering what would be the ideal pinion size to use with it. Thanks for the advice |

There is no right answer to this, there are many variables to take into consideration...motor turns, tire diameter, overall weight, etc... Best thing you can do is grab a 19t and a 17t, and use them as a rough guide for acheiving the desired wheelspeed. These should give you a better estimate of where you want to be. Hope this helps! |

hmm, well surely there is a size that will give the perfect mesh? I have a 20, 21 and 25, I was thinking of going up to 25 as it is uncontrollable atm,, and just wheelies constantly and does back flips when you floor it, so looking to tone down the torque a bit. |

It really would help if you gave us some of the specs of your W/K . Things like what motor you are running, whether you're running larger or smaller tyres, battery size and type, is the suspension setup stock or altered.... If you're trying to keep the front end down, but still retain wheelspeed, you might want to do a search for the W/K chassis flip, put the battery at the front, might help a lot! |

Yeah ive already done all that, it has the chasis fliped, all electronics right at the rear of the vehicle, new oil filled shocks, full steel drive train, 3s brushless setup 13.5t motor, 5000 mah 3s battery, BEC, front mounted steering, steel steering linkages, extended wheelbase, locked rear diff + heaps more. I have chucked on the 25 tooth pinion as it looked like it gave a much better mesh then the 20 or 21. Havnt had a chance to run it yet but hopefully it will go nice.

Wow! with that setup, I'm not suprised it wheelies all the time! ![]() I think your best option might be to dial back the preload in your Index finger! ;) Spend 5 mins with this, and see what it suggests... http://www.calcrc.com/downde.htm Last edited by heinz357; 02-08-2013 at 05:38 AM. shouldn't you use a smaller pinion to keep the wheels down? I also was wondering if the OP meant what pitch gears cuz he mentioned "perfect mesh"

smaller pinion will increase start up torque, but lower top speed as well and be easier on the motor. could be a pitch issue, wheely king is 48p. RRP and tamiya make a .6mod pitch gear that looks close to 48p, but the wont mesh up right |
