Default The Scorpion Killer Rebuild: Now With More Wheel King!

The 2013 Michigan state comp is coming up next month and I decided I needed a rig to compete with. A few guys and I have been pushing to start a sporty class and it looks like we will have quite a few at the state comp so I will be taking my 2.2s and rebuilding it into a sportsman rig.

Parts list so far:
Novak 55t motor
Castle sidewinder
CC bec
Futaba steering servo
Big bores
Wheel king axles
Clocked wheel king trans
Custom chassis and lots of other custom goodies.

Started on a new clocked motor mount. The one I had before I had made out of some thick steel plate and kinda rushed it and it didn't look too good. The new one is aluminum about the same thickness as the stock plate and I think it looks classy. I also have a 90t spur on the way this 87t is too small.

Old one on the right new one on the left

Mounted up.

Got the chassis plates done, trans mounted, and links cut and mounted.

Wheelbase is still a little long need to trim the links a little but I think its looking good.

That's what I'm hoping to do. I'm going to make plates for the axles that will have the upper and lower link mounts on them and hopefully have the servo and battery under the plate to help cog. I'm going to need some practice. I haven't drove a comp truck in a wile.

If i was you i would take materiel out of the side plate to lower COG. Did you rob these parts from your scaler?

Also, it looks like you could mount the trans on the side plate instead of the skid and get the motor alot lower.

The nly thing I have taken off my scaler are a few screws. I need to order some from Harley. I have thought about taking more out of the side plates. The plate on other side in the pictures has some material trimmed out.

I haven't thought about that. I did think about running it upside down but on the side plate may work I'll have to try that.

This is what I'm thinking for axle plates but the servo will be under the plate for protection.

I think it will work, just keep an eye on driveline angles.

Maxx shafts. They are plenty strong and nice and light.

Made the front axle plate today. It doesn't mount every thing as low as I wanted but it will work. The aluminum I am using was perfect for the chassis and motor mount but it is a little think for the axles. I'll see if I can find some thiner stuff and remake them. I don't have any pictures right now I'll post some later.
