Default Arnel's spare time, spare parts, Wheely king something or other.

Picked up a set of wheely king axles to do a build for my nephew, but my bro in law wants to build it for him and is going with an moa setup since he had the axles already and a super rooster esc. And since I picked these up and he doesn't need them, I figure I'll still put them to use, and see if I can drag another family member to the world of scalers. I'm on a single income family with a wife and kid at home so this build was going to be low budget.
Sooooo...... This is where I'm at with parts I purchased and parts I have.

Wheely king axles - classifieds
Pede transmission - classifieds
1.9 axial beadlocks - local
1.9 rc4wd rock crushers - local
Axial jk body - traded
Vaterra 625wp - spare
Duratrax esc - spare
2 Stock wraith shocks - spares
2 traxxas shocks - spares ( might go 90mm all around with spare scx shocks since I'm trading for axial icon's)
stock plastic drive shafts spares
Hitec 72 MHz tx/rx - had ( it was originally for my nephew he didnt need anything fancy lol)

Chassis will be home made.
And links will be homemade as well.
Bumpers and sliders will be home made as well.
As it since right now.

Great idea, I did this for my brother a while back, check out my thread "New life for an old WK" in the WK section for chassis ideas, I did it cheap with some stuff from hardware store.

I'll be using 1/2" square tubing for the chassis, should be picking up some after work today, I'll just bend it and split it. Undecided on what skid to use since I have a few ax10 skids and an scx10 skid I can use.

well. broke one of the axles making my rear lockouts and took too much off of the axle housing causing it to become a weak point and break once i applied very little pressure. i'll be ordering a new housing for it. wasnt able to pick up any 1/2 tube today. ill get it tomorrow

You are going to like the rig when it's done, when I finished my brother's up I didn't want to give it up, It performed really well, the WK axles have a little wider stance than SCX axles and it was very stable. I'll be watching this

I like the stance of the axles already, I just think the rock crushers look a little small under the body, so I'm trading for a couple of other sets, a set of 2.2 proline mashers, and a set of twin hammers wheels and tires, I'll see how those look when they get here. When I traded traded for the jk body I didn't get a sticker sheet with it, but think I may have found one for it at no cost.

The soft top I'm going to make will look like this one, I made this one for a friend:

The 2 sets of wheels and tires I should have later this week:

lol i made that one for mike on the Elite page. I might actually change the body on this rig, the wheely king axles are just a little too wide and dont look right. I have a body in mind. havent done a hard body since my last NB JK, so i thought this might look cool

I was going to say, I didn't see this in your garage. Did you have to trash the axle housing?
