Default From Monster Truck to Rock Crawler?

So I recently got a Wheely King that's fast and built as a monster truck. I would like to convert it over as cheaply as possible to a crawler. I have lockouts on the way, and a 55t motor I can swap out for the current 19t. It has the xl5 esc, for now.

The rear has a strc lockout, and it has a hot racing chassis, and steering servo mount up front. It also has wheel spacers.

The shocks are very stiff, the guy I got it from said they were komodo shocks? The springs are internal on the shocks.

I'm thinking that if I hook up the 55t motor "backwards", move the lockout to the front, and put the steering servo in the extra rear mount I have. Pretty much make the front the rear and vice versa.

i think doing that and getting softer shocks and better tires, it would do much better when I get the lockers. I'm not sure if this is possible though, with the battery tray.

Does anyone have any info on this that would help me out?

Thanks, that'll help.

Do you think flipping the chassis like I explained would work? Pretty much swap axles around and reverse the motor?

yeah flipping the chassis with the battery over the front wheels is how most of us started with the WK. just swap your axles and reverse your motor leads i think my thread has pics of how i did mine before i went custom chassis.

If u want to transform it intoc a crawler, leave the chassis as it is,and get a small lipo battery, and make it a 4 link, and on the front upper links you cand do a plate a put the battery there

Is it really cheaper to convert a wheelie king?

Yes,but dont expect big performance,as the tranny is the weak point from it,as its built in a tower mode, and the heavy part, wich is the motor, sits on top.If u want a cheap crawler with good performances, take a look at the Maverick Scout, produced by HPI

I guess I got lucky, I bought my Crawler King when it was the same price as the Wheelie King. Still had to switch over to 2.4, upgrade the steering and get a crawler esc. By the time that was done it cost me around $300.
