Wheely King into a Scaler King!

Since it looks like HPI is going to be around for a while, and the Venture is going to be getting all the attention, instead of following that one, I thought i'd go back to my favorite straight axle rig, the Wheely King http://www.ultimaterc.com/forums/i/smilies/biggrin.gif

For those that don't know, the wheely king was one of the first shaft driven straight axle monster trucks, and was pivotal to the release of scale trucks like the scx10, since scale guys were taking the axles from the wheely king, and using them on aftermarket scale chassis. The transmissions weren't used though, because the Wheely King is a TVP chassis with the mounts on the side, and a scale chassis needs a transmission that mounts from the bottom. heres an old HPI pic of the original 4x4 wheely king:

I have enough parts to build about 4 wheely kings, so I'm going to be using parts to build this one. I'll update as I go, and show you the parts I'll be using to fix the inherent issues with the Wheely King.

This is what my current one looks like, more of a crawler king than a wheely king at this point.

I'll be using this integy chassis (don't you judge me!), a holmes 27t motor, Futaba 9156 high torque servo, sidewinder sct esc, and a castle bec

I'll also be using the level 3rc motor mount, to lower the COG and also move the weight forward a little as well. If you look back to the first post, you'll see that the other problem with the stock motor mount is that it is wayyyy too high, putting the motor up on top of the transmission

Im doing the same with one I got about a month ago and have been working on it since then. I pretty much kept the WK transmission and axles and am using Trx4 frame rails.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...f17651bf96.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...ccf0f8ba8c.jpg
