Thumbs up Reversed Wheely King

Hey, all, just thought I would share how I set up my new Wheely King so the battery was in the front, for better weight distribution. After playing around for a while, and trying to figure out how to get the servo output on the opposite side, I decided to simply flip the servo mount upside down and rotate the servo saver 180 degrees. Then I moved the steering bellcrank to the other side and swapped the front axle for the rear. I had planned on flipping the difs to get the oposite rotation, but then the upper link mount on the diff doesn't fit, so to get the proper rotation, I was forced to reverse the rotation of the motor. Not the best solution, but it works. Even with the battery up front, it will still wheely on carpet. Now I just need the parts to make it 4 wheel drive.

Default Tranny gearing

Well, I pulled the tranny today to see what the internal gearing was. It has a 15t upper gear, driven by the spur. This gear drives a 22t gear, and is connected to another 22t gear with what looks like a mini slipper. There is a coil spring between the two gears, but I could not get it to slip by hand. The second 22t turns a 28t gear, for an internal gear ratio of a dismal 1.866. Add in the 21/90 pinion/spur and you get an even 8:1. The axles are 13/38, which add up to a total gear ratio of 23.4:1, pretty high geared for a crawler. I am planning on using an outrunner, so hopefully this will work out. I also removed the stock battery box and taped the battery to the front upper link. Now it crawls pretty good, but fast, even in 2wd.

OK, looking at the numbers, if I went to a 96/19 spur/pinion, the total ratio would be 27.5:1. I'm not sure if these will fit the stock chassis though.

Using the stock chassis, you can run 96/15.
