Default -=Raised Wheely King Axles=-

Here is a fairly simple mod for increasing axle height by about 7mm.

You’ll need the following parts / quantities,

- #72083 UNIVERSAL DOGBONE (CENTER REAR/NITRO RS4 MT) x4

- #73507 CARBON GRAPHITE BLOCK AND HUB SET (Cyclone/Pro4) x4

- #B021 BALL BEARING 5x10mm x4

- Various shims, washers and spacers..

Step 1. Dremel 72083 shafts to match picture. Make 4 shafts

Step 2. Insert shafts into universal and tighten setscrew (loctite recommended). You’ll want about 15mm of exposed shaft.

Step 3. Attach steering knuckles...You could probably use the stock knuckles with some Dremel work. I opted for the 73507 Pro 4 knuckles. If using the pro 4 knuckles you will need to add shims behind the wheel hex pin.

Step 4. Put everything together except for one half of the axle. Take note as to where the universal bone is touching the plastic axle, Dremal accordingly.

Step 5. Assemble everything back together making sure everything is spinning free.

Step 6. Crawl, crawl grasshopper, crawl like the wind!

Nice way to get a bit of portal type clearance without the portal gears

GREAT IDEA......

Did you also have an idea to seal up the end of the housing to keep out debris? I think I might have to try this one out!

Very interesting. Looks like the outer knuckles will need some beefing.
