Wheely king tuber........half droop?

Dont know how well this is gonna work. Only 3 wheel drive right now. Acts very predictable. My axles came in today (RCNINJA) but had this idea and wont put em in and test until the morning.

If anyone has had success, failures, temper tantrums or any other experience with something like this please dont hesitate to chime in.

oh yeah, I know the electrics are taped on. Just wanted to see if it ran.

PS. I can switch her over to full droop or sprung pretty easily so opinions are definately welcome.

Nice tube work. I never tried droop, so I can't say much on that subject though.

I was running about %50 droop on mine, no preload spacers, and fully extended the shock outran the spring by 1/2", but I ran into massive torque lean. I ended up going to 100wt oil with full droop and some home depot extension springs to keep the axle up. it settled it down pretty well.
good luck wth your setup.

I dont know what it will do. I have no springs full droop in the front and sprung ~40% sag in the rear. I may just have to stand the rears up and go full droop and see how it works.

Sorry for the crappy pics, too lazy to go get the camera.

Go for it. Install springs on the inside of the shocks to keep the them from unloading (extending) on sidehills and climbs. It will work well.

Just put the axle in. It actually drives pretty good like this. Does have a lil more torque twist now i think. Maybe some internal springs or bands will get rid of some of it. I could climb up different angles of my lil rock pile that I couldnt climb when it was just the 4 link c channel frame. "thumbsup"

I tried to make some side panels outta some plastic and made a radio plate, roof, and hood outta lexan. I think Ill paint em yellow like the plastic.

I feel like the tube frame is a success no matter how good it performs cause it was my first one and after 1.5hrs I couldnt find any breaks/cracks.

Changed to full droop. Put mini-t springs inside shocks. Definitely TOO stiff. Gettin no flex. Gonna try just 70 wt(highest I got unless I use diff fluid?) with no springs tomorrow. Also started the panesl and painted the frame with black plastidip. Looks ok, but I know it is gonna get scraped to hell.

its gonna crawl like crap without springs unless your chassis weighs a ton. I tried it on mine and it wouldnt reset itself after articulating.

OK, used the digicam instead of phone:

Thanks. It really does look better in person.

Can/will you email me when you have the mamba max esc only in stock?

Also, what is everyone using for internal springs????????????????????

JohnRobHolmes 05-13-2007 10:26 AM

I have two in stock right now

I used some springs from the hardware store, and some springs from my old venom mini giant.
