Default T.O.R.C. tuber - build log (almost done!)

This is my first hobby grade crawler build. I have built a couple of Nylints seen here. Finally built a 1:6
and here 1/18th tuber buildup I know Nylints are often considered a bad word, but hey, they're what got me started.
Anyway, on to the build. This will be a tuber build up from start to finish with lots o pics. Not sure on the total design yet, I will build as I go.

SPECS:
WK axles
Clocked WK trans
65T Integy motor
96/15 gears
T-max Driveshafts
3/16" brake line tube chassis
2.2 Mashers
12.5"wheelbase
Droop suspension with 1,000 weight oil no springs
Carbon fiber suspension links

That's all I know for now, time to start building and see what happens.

First step, trans and motor plate.

All suggestions welcome!! Next step, axle servo mounts.

Thanks, I wanted to get the weight of the motor as low as possible. Saw a similar design somewhere else, I just changed it up a little, so I can't take full credit.

Tonka Toy, thanks, and North of Houston near Conroe.

Got the front axle servo mount done today, looks a little rough with all the grind marks, but I will probably paint it flat black so it doesn't stand out as much. Next will be the skidplate/transmission mount...

PICS.

Suggestion - Get rid of those plastic drag links. They flex a lot. Looks cool.

Nice to ya gettin into hg stuff, I'm sure this thing is going to turn out pretty dang sweet. Your craftsmanship on the nylints was pretty freakin awesome. I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Yah, the plastic links are gonna go, and probably the stock servo too. Just using them for mock-up. Thanks!

I'm about 10 miles from there, close to the big city of "Cut N Shoot"!

Good looking start. Looks like you have a good amount of width going too.

Looks like the servo mount could use just a little more angle to get parallel with the knuckles.

Arrow shafts work really well for steering linkage.

Thanks, that was as far back as I could angle the servo before it contacted the link/shock mount. I ground the mount down some but I didn't want to grind too much. It'll have to do, my only other choice is to raise the servo some so I can angle it back more, but I really don't want to raise it anymore.

Default Transmission skid plate

Got the transmission mount/skidplate/lower link mount finished today. It is made from Wal Mart cutting board, nice and slippery. I recessed the bottom screws so they won't hang up on anything. PICS...

Next comes links and steering bars...

not only do I like how he mounted his tranny, but the lower link mounting position looks pretty cool to me.

Nice job.

Default Started on the tubing

Got some tube work done today, not much time to play with my toys on mothers day. Anyway, first is a pic of the chassis that I am LOOSELY basing my frame design on. Next are pics of my progress. Still have to do a little bending of the shock hoops to square them up, but that will come when it's time to tie them in.
PICS...

BTW. I think I'm going to set this up as a droop suspension. Haven't tried that set up before, so Ive been doing some reading. Plan on starting out with the stock shocks and maybe 1000w diff oil with no springs. Suggestions??

Loving the tranny mount also, been lookin at ways to mount the stock tranny someway different and this looks like a great idea....is it pretty stable with just 2 screws holding it down? Just curious, love the ideas!

Looking great getbent. I really like that tuber your basing it off of, pretty mean looking. I'm glad to hear the stick is running strong, kinda wish I still had mine.
