Default guywithhats WK build

iam gonna eventually strech the WB with links.. but until they come in the mail... i getto fabed a plastic chassis at work on my break with some 1/4 plastic.. all we had laying around.. the WB is now 12.5 axle to axle

I can't really do much else until my Esavage shafts come in the mail.. and iam also still waiting on my 2.2moabs, and55T, then ill see if it works out
iam just worried with the long chassis bottom that ill get hung up more...but i guess theres either chassis or link there to get hung up... let me know what you's thinks eh...

Default cool

I'm just starting my build too, I've used revo pushrods for links and jerry rigged the top link with allthread to lengthen the stock upper link, I used tmaxx drive shafts, I had some from my tmaxx. Our the esavage ones longer, I can't wait to see what you do with them keep up the good work.

just a picture of the chassis layout.. basicly I just traced the stock chassis, then moved the 4 link holes out 1.5 inches on each side to give me the 12.5" WB.

Once its up and running, if theres no major issues with the design, I thinks I might make it out of 1/8 alumium diamond plating for some extra bling...

Iam sure the local hardware store has threaded rod, but the LHS is an hour drive to get there for ends, so I just extended the steering rod almost 2 inches with one of the allen keys that came with the WK.. it might not be pretty or dead straight... but its strong as nails...I keep forgeting not to weld on wood, or use plastic clamps..hahaha....

well i got bored of this rather quick... and my good parts arn't in yet..lol... I cut most of the chassis down and got my old rustler trans back and locked 'n mounted it...

with sides from modified chassis plates and top for electronics to mount to

it has about 2.75" of ground clearence and the chassis is 3 inches long at the bottom...

just a mock up... the shocks aren't mounted yet... and iam waithing on losi rod ends so i can build nice links...

the chassis will have to be modified to mount body... unless i run posts off the sides...

not sure on battery placement... maybe on the side of the chassis opposite the motor.... or build chassis out over front axle and mount under 'hood' of body...

any idears or comments???

went to LHS (2hrs there n' back)... picked up a teamassociated 87T 48P spur and a RRP 12 tooth 48P pinon for my rustler trans... got a team integy heat sink with fan... and my integy 55T motor came in the mail when i got home

the bodys just resting on there for the shot.... still need to mount posts... after its set up and running tho

everything but the battery and the front servo has been mounted...
still waiting on rod ends tho... can't find aluminum rod in town.. might have to go steal... er steel...

shocks mounted upside down.. keeps weight low, and bigger ends for more clearance on the top

ground clearence is now up .25 to 3 inches even... or a cat head.... my new measuring unit.... iam 23.333 cat heads tall

check out the kingflex!

What's your wheelbase now? There's a post on here about building longer drive shafts from two of them, Ive never tried it but looks like it would work.
Or RC4WD site has punisher shafts for 45 a piece. keeep your post coming.

WB is 14.5... when i spun the axle clamps.. it made it longer then my original 12.5....

and I have made my own center shafts.. with parts from the ruster trans, stock WK, and Esavage, and a marker and clear tubing... but I want a more solid looking shaft....

well I got my steering mount kit and lockers in the mail today from kingbling... thanks man... I got it all bolted down with my hitec 645mg servo, and my new links... losi ends with threaded rod between then covered in brake line...

heres some pictures of the diff lock install...
first I split the axle case....

Then I pulled out the thing...lol...

Then took the 4 screws out...

the inerds

pulled out this part first

with all the gears pulled out

then I put the first part in with bevel down

then the second half with the bevel up

then reassembed it all... you can scroll back up so it looks like iam putting it back together...

Now iam just waiting on my small nylint pack to charge.. iam going to make a plate to mount it ontop of the front axle... until KingBling comes out with one... or I might try to mount my big C cell pack some how... meh
