Default Scale Jeep MFM Build

Started work on a WK scale jeep build using a MFM chassis. Been working on this for about a week and have the basic chassis done and motor mounted.

The frame had to be widened about 1" to fit the WK tranny. Also got the Hitec 645 servo mounted

Made an aluminum tranny mounting plate with a spur gear rock guard. I used the clocked motor mount with a little modification.

I used the WK springs mounted on E-Maxx shocks, They fit perfectly and are alot softer than the Maxx springs.

I found a nice box to put the electronics in. It will keep water and snow from getting on the ESC and reciever.

A perfect fit.

Here is what it looks like with the body on.

So far I still need to mount the electronics and battery, put body posts on, make a mount for the HPI bumpers, mount the shocks, and paint the body.

Should just be the truck they're installed on, and other that springs, they're the same as what gets installed on the back of the Rusty's, Pede's, Nitro Sport's, and (other than shock shafts) Bandit's.

T-Maxx and E-Maxx shocks are the same. I just have an E-Maxx so I used those. I'm going to paint the body white with black trim.

Hey man the project looks great. I am working on a very similar project, I am going to stand my WK trans up though (not even going to use my own template ).

I am thinking about trying to keep the steering setup stockish too, we will see. Good looking start.

The MFM chassis is great since it has soo many different mounting holes, I'm really glad I chose it. Unfortunatly I can't make it to the next comp since I will be on vacation. This truck won't be for competing since I don't want to tear it up and I don't have the $$ to keep replacing parts. I will still go to the comps when I can, just to watch and see what everyone is running. Good luck with your comp truck, you should post some pictures if you get a chance.

The servo worked out fine since I set the shocks so they don't let the chassis go far enough down to hit the mount. I have a pretty high center of gravity, but that's ok for trail driving and general crawling.

Well today I was able to get quite a bit done. I spent the whole day on this and should be able to finish it up tomorow.

Got all the shocks mounted, just need to fine tune their position later.

Made some brackets to support the electronics box. Also got the body posts on so I can line up the body, got them to match up exactly with the dimples that are on the body from the factory, this will make things easier.

I really like how the battery holder worked out. I was able to use the WK battery box and just have the battery leads exit out the back, notice the hole in the rear of the box in the picture above ^^^

Here is what it looks like right now.

List of whats left to do......(all tomorow!)
  1. Put electronics in box
  2. Mount the box with doubble sided adhesive foam
  3. Make something for the antenna wire (suggestions plz)
  4. Paint the body
  5. TEST IT OUT!!!!!!!

Well the painting went great, at least i think it was good for my 1st paint job. I got the truck totally finished except for getting the bumpers mounted. I'm leaving for vacation tomorow, Moab Utah!!! Then on to Colorado. I will post up some pictures of the truck while i'm on vacation.(as long as my laptop works...)

I know it's really tall, but right now thats ok since it's mainly a trail truck.

if i didnt know any better ....i'd say that "electronics box" is an iPOD case.......lol...looks good!....but the ESC being so close to the reciever may be a bad idea...the interference could get annoying....

and.....i would probably put those shocks at a slight angle to free up some articulation.....looking good though....
