On mine, HPI shimmed the ring gear away from the pinion. Flip the shims and your golden.

I'm getting one this week so I want to know a lttile about this. How old are the trucks that do that, was it a 4wd and what all would I need to do to make it stop doing that. I heard a few guys say just move the shims, is that all you do? BTW I'm a noob to crawling.

Well mines a 4wd, but I opened the diff up right away after hearing it. I recomend doing this before running the truck. All you do is take the shims farthest away from the ring gear and swap em to the other side so it shims the ring gear closer to the pinion.

Can someone tell me in this picture where things go? I assume the red and blue shims go where the red ones are currently? Or do they go where the green arrow is? I don't know the correct terminoligy(sp?) on the ring gears and pinion gears, not sure which is which...

Doont mess with the internals. Take the bearings off the diff and you'll see the shims.
