Unless you guys changed the meaning of droop without telling me, the third pic down is flex.

Droop or Flex!!!! I'll bet the shock that's in that flex shot, has the most extension you'll see in this build. Because JIA has stated that he is going to use straps to limit axle travel. I'm sure he will limit some of the droop also. |

Kind of pointless, since it won't ever see this much travel once it is properly tuned (no straps yet between the axle and frame and no fuel tubing inside the shocks), but here's a shot at full droop. The reason for the different shock mount locations from front to rear is because I have the front and rear axles rotated differently. The rear pinion isn't rotated up toward the tranny as much as the front. If I rotate the rear like I have the front, the rear driveshaft angle will be better (obviously). Doesn't really matter, it's not designed to run full droop. You will be limiting travel when you build one of these. That's why there are attachment points on the chassis for limit straps. Pic at full droop. Tires are not touching the ground. |

Maybe your dad can answer this one, if you dont have any wheel time on one of course. does the design of the roof and upper tubes help in rolloves a whole lot? my rig has basically a 4x4 rectangled roof and when it flips, its dead on its back. It looks like this one might have a chance to get itself upright with the right luck/throttle input

Rollover here at about 2:30... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DE6pxsw_t6U That's with the proto, where the top wasn't as round as the current version. Last edited by JasonInAugusta; 07-04-2007 at 04:53 PM. |

I actually came up with the idea after watching Sprint car races. How many of those have you seen tumble and many times return to their wheels. Maybe damaged but upright. A simple idea I hope helps all who buy it. |

Tested an idea for body panels tonight. Wanted an iridescent effect on scales. Masked the design with 1/16" masking tape. Grabbed a piece of cardboard and bent it a few times so I could hold it with one hand and easily hold a contour with it. Started with Parma Faskolor Fasflip Jade and placed the cardboard along each of the masked lines then sprayed the Fasflip Jade by aiming at the corner where the cardboard rested against the panel (along the masked lines) Then I followed along the other set of masked lines with the Fasflip Jade...just spraying light coats at the corner of the cardboard and the panel. Changed to Parma's Faspearl Black and backed the entire panel. Depending how you look at it, Faspearl Black has a gold-ish brown look to it. Next I removed all the masking tape and sprayed the masked lines with Parma's Faspearl Charcoal. Finally I backed the entire panel with Parma's Fasblack. I just did the one panel to see if the iridescent effect I was looking for would work with that color combo. So far I'm happy with it. The real test will be to see it in sunlight. If I don't like it, no big loss, only took about 10 minutes. |

Looks good JIA, I like the paint! Should look sweet in the sun, thats always the true test. Im curious, do you think the suspension will unload with going up an incline? I had my rear links with a larger seperation at the frame and it seemed to want to lift the front tires off the ground. I have since switched it up and now the link seperation at the frame is closer and I am hoping that will help. I know, two totally different frames but I just wanted to pick your brain |

Looks like the paint is a winner. Guess I'll go ahead and do the other four panels tomorrow night. I still want to see it in the sun, though. Nluv, I hate to keep sending folks to view the video, but check these out and see what you think. I forget where Dad had his links at the time, but his truck did real well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DE6pxsw_t6U http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3RJGY7ZthXk |

Dang JIA, that looks sweet. And the paint job? That's the bomb. One of these days, I'm going to take the time to paint something up fancy like that |

If I remember right he's running a 13 tooth 'cause that's what he had on hand. Went out to check the mail...found a snake in the grass. BTW...I know I need to mow. |

That paint looks sick in the sun!! Could you mount the shocks out a little more on the front or would they rub then? |
