Default Tm-4 Wk

I am finally building a chassis that is not of my own design.

I recieved the EZ's design TM-4 chassis earlier this week and hope to make it a highly competitive comp machine. My driving on the other hand will dictate otherwise.

1) tm-4 chassis
2) locked ( possibly narrowed ) WK axles
3) modified WK trans. ( maybe a dig setup not sure )
4) some Bling bead locks
5) either Mashers or some new tires like the Losi's or Axial Sticky label.
6) Mamba Max - or maybe the new Novak Crawler ESC.
7) low COG

so far these are the things that I am shooting for

here is a pic of the chassis

Those are to mount a pede tranny in the lay down position, just like an sw2.

Sweet looking chassis, One thing I would do is round the width of the 2 bottom edges that see the rocks.

I might look at that once I get the links mounted. I think the links will actually hide whatever is hanging down, but I will make that determination once I have them mounted. I have an idea for some links that I have not seen yet. I should have some updates by Wed. or Thurs.

2) locked ( possibly narrowed ) WK axles

Can you elaborate on how you plan to narrow the axles?

Doesn't seem like it would terribly hard to do, but it does look like it would be hard to make LOOK good.

well, I haven't updated this for a while because no real progress has been made. I have a few mock upi shots to see how these WK axles look under the chassis. Most parts just bolt up with little to no mods.

so I came up with a quick slipper mod for the WK tranny that locks it completely.

replacing the spring with a shock spacer that will hold the floating gear in place for constant engagement. here are some pics.

I finally had some time to work on this build recently and this is what I came up with.
the two most talked about and design intensive parts on the WK. The two parts of the WK that can make it a competative crawler, or just a run of the mill WK is the steering servo mount, and the tranny plate / mount options. I finaly came up with a design that I like.
Here is my steering servo / battery mount that I made for my Wheely King axle.
also, pictures of an experimental lower center link mount which is centered just below the pinion and made from household WK parts.

I'm with RivBlueNoma, lets hear more about this narrowing of the WK axles??... I did a search on this and having found anything.... I see in your pics of the under side of the rig this has been done... can you go into detail on how??

Well, that idea has been put on the back burner for now. The axle in the pic is the donor crash test dummy. I might have found a better and easier alternative to narrowing. I picked up some Pede rear wheels a while back to see if they help with the narrowing, I think I can get the desired width from the wheels alone, and they cover the knuckles at the same time.

I will revisit the narrowed axle idea later so that I can run different wheels or maybe aftermarket bead locks. I didn't mean to dissapoint, but this build is way over due and I need to move away from the more time intensive stuff until it's at least running.

I love the chassis, I think it's going to be really stable.
here is another pic of the battery / servo mount form the top.

You'll like the Pede rear wheels inside narrowed and you may or may not want to outside narrow them. I'm trying just inside narrowed (to clear the knuckles) for now. My build is way overdue to and I too am approaching the git r done attitude at the moment.

Schweet, looking good. Love your servo/battery mount with the lil cut-out!
