Is there any way to increase the Center of Gravity height with wheels and tires over what the stock WK wheels and tires give you? In other words are there any wheel and tire combinations that will make the truck higher. What brand wheels or what brand tires would I need to make it higher?

You can use the other hexes that come with the WK (17mm) and get a set of wheels and tires for an E/T-Maxx. Although, I don't recommend this. Most of us are trying to get the CG as low as possible for stability reasons. If you run high CG then your rig is more likely to tip over on even small obstacles.

Why in the world would you want to increase the COG height?

You can use any set of wheels and tires and just add weight to them. This will DECREASE your center of gravity's height. Airsoft BB's work well, just fill your tire about 2/3 full and you are good to go.

A couple of the Imex tires are larger (5.5 ") rather than 5.2" Rock stompers may also be taller (5.5") ? In my crawler build The max diameter tires are allowed 6" and I can't imagine why everyone isn't right up to the max tire diameter for competition. I'm using redrocks (5.5") and even though they aren't best traction , they make up for it in height and help the condition you have.

If you use taller wheels/tires with alot of weight in them you can gain clearance AND lower your COG.

It looks like I need to get rid of the stock WK frame. What chassis are you running and where can I buy one? In the picture above with the two tires compared what is the name and style of the larger tire? Did you have to change wheels and was the hex size the same? I guess I am looking for the name and source of the wheels and tires and chassis. I appreciate your help. Joe

I've found that running a taller tire isn't always what it's cracked up to be. I've tried tires up to 5.75", and have found that in a lot of situations it not only increases the COG and makes the truck more likely to roll, but the increased leverage effect also makes the truck much more apt to flip over backwards on climbs. You can do a lot to help with diff clearance by running a narrow offset wheels (electric stampede rear) and narrow them just enough to clear the knuckles.

The chassis is the Gopher chassis, produced by The Crawler Store you can get them for $79.00 The Tires are modified Badlands for maxx sized rigs glued to 2.2 moab sidewalls. You can buy them pre-made through xtremem hobbies.

Make a thin Kydex or Delrin skid for the bottom, anything thin and plastic and dont leave any screw heads sticking out. Maybe switch to some high clearance lower links too! Cool little chassis... Show us what you put inside that little tub. Last edited by themerc64; 10-03-2007 at 10:30 PM. Reason: more
