broke down and bought one today

well guys I starting to built my wheely king but last night I added up all the parts to do the front and rear diffs and it was like 150 bucks so I broke down today and ordered the rtr 4x4 wheely king. So when I gets here I will start to mod it instead of trying to build the truck piece by piece. I think that I will be less expensive that way. won't it.?

you shouldn't be disappointed from what i heard, I'm ordering one myself!

Yes, much cheaper that way. Hope you like it. Good Luck!"thumbsup"

You can actually recoop some of your purchase price by selling some of the stock parts too.

well I do have and a chassis and a tranny that I ordered when I was going to build my wheely king. but I think that I might keep them for spare parts of maybe i can use the tranny in another build maybe. but which pinion gear should I get to use with the 90t spur that the king comes with so that I can use the stock motor for a little bit just until I get my next paycheck?

Yeah right now its the cheapest way.

To build it up by pieces, two axle case kits are $28, two 4x4 conversion kits are $86 and I believe the hub/knuckle kit for two of them was around $28 also. Then there would be misc stuff like screws/washers/spacers. So for around say $140 to build axles and around $200 or so new, you are just better off going with complete.

I have a lead on a partial custom used WK for $200 CDN. The owner has some links already installed, king bling front servo mount, locked, reversed, stock chassis/tires/electronics. Going this way I save paying the taxes from my LHS. My LHS has a used 2wd WK for $175 and $43 for the 4x4 kit add 14% tax and the extra $50 can be used towards a new motor, tires, beadlocks etc.

iceman320 10-05-2007 06:01 PM

what pinion gear should I use with the stock motor and the 90t spur so that I can crawl the truck with the stock motor until I can get a 55t motor? thanks.

The smallest that will still mesh properly....take it to the lhs and try em out. I'm running 32 pitch on mine with clocked WK tranny so don't know waht smallest is for 48 pitch that will still fit.

ok thanks for the help natedog. I will get on tower and see what optional pinion gears hpi has for it.

Just about any 48 pitch pinion will work....the problem is knowing how small you can go before the teeth won't mesh properly with the spur. That's why I suggested taking the truck down to your lhs with you and eyeballing what might work, then buy the two or three that look like they'll fit.

well I just got off tower hobby and i checked to status of my order and ups says that my wheely king will be delivered tuesday. I can't wait to get my links on and start modding it. tower hobby is going to have some cool aluminum parts tha I want to put on it like the aluminum knuckles, and a aluminum hex hub kit that will widen the track with. so that should be pretty cool. and the aluminum chassis plates should make the truck stronger. so yeah I can;t wait to start moding my wheely king I'm getting really excited. it's going to be a fun winter project I think.

rehashing old posts... (forgot I commented on this thread).

Yep its 14% up here. It used to be 15% in June 2006.. lol. Then they lowered the GST by 1%. There is two taxes, GST and PST. Currently we are sitting at 6% (gst) and 8%(pst).

edman87k5 10-30-2007 12:51 PM

The pinion that comes on it is as small as you can go with the stock spur, unless you notch the mount holes and trans housing.
As for price , I got mine from omni models . com for $190 shipped. By far the best price I found!
