It all depends on what you want to get out of crawling,.. how much you are willing to spend on it? Did you want to get involved in competitions OR just bash on some rocks with friends?

Here is a breakdown of what I have done so far.

1) research and used the search button
2) research and used the search button some more and more
3) Visited www.tcscrawler.com and www.rcpcrawlers.com and created a wish list. Basically everything is on there that you would need to build a crawler. Course, your LHS can provide most of the common r/c parts.
4) Looked around at the other members builds and took notice of what parts they are using.
5) Buy parts and build over the next few weeks/months. Test out the setup and see what happens.

So im around #5 right now.. lol. I spent many hours (on paid work time of course) looking at this webpage and reading as many posts as I could. Looking at other members build threads (very helpful) and just researching some more detailed information about my built that I might need to know.

Chances are, anything you type into the search field, it will find a match. Most questions have probably been asked a few times. But, if you cant find it. Then ask.

Hope it helps. If you want, click my crawler build thread to see what I'am going with. I hope my build works ... LOL.

There are some build threads on here with the link length they used, which may or may not be what you need. I haven't started working on my links, but im sure if I wanted to be a few mm longer or shorter then I probably could. Unless of course you buy the Traxxas short links and long links for lowers (108mm and 118mm - Traxxas #5139 & #5138..). Here is the build thread I referred to .. CLICK ME

The messy way to lock the diffs is using JB weld or something simliar to that. I unlocked my diffs using boiling water to get the goo out. This is what i'm going to be using to lock up my diffs again... HERE

Tonight Im heading down to an archery place to get some arrow shafts.
