A few of you may know i recently got a tuber from Chad (Grover). I just finished up rebuilding and going through every bit of it. Changing around some things and generally cleaning it up. Its by far the nicest crawler ive owned to date, being as it has an R2 with dig. I set it up with a modified BTA steering setup which should be completely bulletproof, Maxx 2.5 drivelines and another 645 for Dig. It took forever fitting everything inside the body pannels, the only thing visible is the reciever. Another first for me is homemade tires. Ive retreaded before, when Masher treaded Redrocks were the tall tires to have, but never replaced the whole carcass. I made the popular setup of Moab sidewalled Maxx sized badlands tires. I had the badlands sittin around and didnt know what to do with them until i set one next to the tuber, and thought "Oh ya, those are perfect" The hardest part of this rebuild was fitting the battery in there. I wanted good runtime and didnt want to have to swap batteries all the time so i managed to shoehorn in 7 sub Cs, and they are almost completely invisible from the outside. I fit 3 cells side by side under the hood and a 4 cell double-stick mounted to the inside of one of the side pannels. Im really digging the super slammed look i have going on, and the springwire tuber setup looks insanely stable. it is setup similar to a traditional piano wire truck except spring wire runs through the bottom tubes of the chassis. Nice and low, and i like not having to worry about losing body clips. The lacking thing on his truck is the radio, im running a Traxxas TQ3, but its the only 3ch radio i have so it will have to do. Specs on my rig: Wheelie King Tuber Novak 610 HRV esc 7 cell Elite 4500 SC pack 2 Hitec 645s for Steering / Dig 2.2 Badlands Hand Wound 55t Nice Low Profile ![]() ![]() Not much Flex ![]() ![]() Way Stable ![]() Hopefully, as long as i can drive, ORCRC wont know what hit em...

I like it.. That is a great idea running the wire through the axle case itself.. it may have been done before but its the first one ive seen setup like that

very nice and different, the badlands had to be used to lift the low ride height i suppose?

The piano wire rigs don't tend to have as much flex as the sprung rigs, but I prefer that personally. I found my torsion rig, being as much more stiff as it is does much better on sidehills, and the torque twist is barely noticeable. Besides, 90 degrees of flex is only good for poser shots... if you want to get more though, you can still move the wires in more. Last edited by chrisjlittle; 11-23-2007 at 02:42 AM.

Looks good, very ingenius way to setup torsion...through the axle housing itself! I'm guessing the driver is from an early AE RC10 or on-road kit.... Got any better pics of the behind the axle steering setup?
