hi all,

ok another stupid question, when you guys are reversing the chassis you swap the front rear axle. why cant we just reverse the motor wires like we do and put the steering servo on the rear axle, would that be alright.

if not can someone please explain..

thanks in advance..

cheers tony.....

Not unless you want it to steer like a forklift I.E. Rear steer only.

But the solution to that is simple. Just take the servo mount, with the servo still on it, out of the chassis, remove the servo saver, and flip it 180 degrees.

Now, flip the whole mess over so the servo is pointing up, with the servo saver on the same side of the truck as the steering arms. Now just hook it all up the same way it was, but with the top plastic steering link pointing towards the rear.

And there ya go. Servo in the rear, stock steering set-up!

Remember that the steering lever on the side of the transmission has to be kept on the side it was originally on, the left side, as viewed from the rear of the truck, to get all of this to work.

Now, in order to get full travel of the steering from left-to-right, you'll need to make a longer steering rod that goes between the two steering levers. I just replaced the stock steering rod with a piece of longer 6-32 allthread. The length you need depends on your wheelbase.

Also, consider taking the time while you have it apart to replace the stock servo and servo-saver. The stock pieces are JUNK!!!

Hope this helps!

thanks for your info javelin,
what i ment as well is to swap the body as well, if that was the case it should steer the same as it was standard, the only diff is the battery at the front...

thanks for your help..

cheers tony...

I just did this, removed the lower links and the upper links at the chassis, and simply put the front axle, with the servo under the battery end and the rear axle under the "front" of the chassis. only problem i had was the servo hit the underside of the battery box when the suspention was fully compressed, so i moved the top of the shocks to the holes near the shock/body mount where the stock handle thing was, by the esc. took care of that! you probbly have this figured out by now, but if not, i hope this helps

the best thing to do for the steering is to make/but an axle mounted servo mount (is that redundant redundant?).

That'll make your steering way stronger, more responsive, and you won't have to mess with all that servo mount junk in the chassis. Plus if you make two mounts, it'll set you up for rear steer if you want...

my 2 cents

Couldn't you just put steering on the rear axle put the rear lock out on the front axle and switch the tranny around backwards and the body.
