Default stock tires rubbing shocks

I'm working on building my WK crawler, and have run into an issue. I have extended my WB to 12.5" using derlin links on a cobra chassis. What I have noticed is when my front axle is compressed on one side, and extended on the other side, the tire on the compressed side rubs on the shock/spring when I try to turn.
Will replacing the stock wheels and tires with narrow wheels help my problem? I am planning on getting some RC4WD narrow wheels when I have some more cash, but am using the stock ones for now during the build/mock up. Most of the Cobras I have seen appear to be running narrow tires, and I am wondering if this is why.
Also, I can't move the shocks in (closer to the center) or the suspension will not articulate well, maybe 30 degrees max. Right now the shocks are as close to verticle as possible. I plan on upgrading shocks, when funds are available, but am using stock shocks for now. It doesn't look like different shocks will help much anyway.

Pics? What is the Cobra chassis? Articulation is over rated.

I'll try to get some pics in a day or two, don't have my digital camera right now.
The chassis is a Beckworks Cobra.
I know articulation isn't everything, but 30 degrees isn't going to cut it.

different tires/wheels will fix this, I put axial rocksters and moabs on my wk and there is now enough space to fit a standard battery across the front axle without any rubbing. also, the stock tires are pretty useless on the rocks, and the stock wheels are ugly. You could also use wider hexes, but the wk axles are already plenty wide.

OK, I remember that chassis.

I'm using electric Stampede rears inside narrowed...works good and not too wide. The Axials will make a WK too wide.

BTW, I like the stock WK wheels. RPM has some new narrow wheels out if you look in the tires and wheels section here. They look like good WK wheels.

thanks, I guess I'll have to try some narrower wheels.
