This is a project i have been gathering parts of for a while, Finally got bored tonight and slapped it together to see how well things worked. current stats:12/18/07 esc: Mamba max Motor: Mystery 1200W 833kv Trans: Emaxx (currently held in first, but a shift servo is flopping around on the chassis) Wheels: Double narrowed pede fronts 1st and 3rd axle, single narrowed rears center soon all rears I think) Tires: Imex All-T Dawgs Shocks: Mini LST with Green springs Chassis: Homemade for two axles (obviously) Cat: Pansy a.k.a. Honkey Fool Lemme know what you think, aside from it sucks and I need to make a new chassis. Here's the good stuff |

I say cool, but is the rear axle offering much traction? It looks like it is really operating as a tag axle. When you rework the chassis I would make sure there is some type of shock system back there perhaps a flipped leaf like real semis run. Like I said very cool, especially if this is just a prototype and you are beefing up the design as you go.

can't wait to see the *real* chassis. Should be a cool project. What's your plans for the rear axle, will you still have those links to the rear or will it be independent from the middle axle (i.e. another set of shocks etc for the rear axle)? |

Right now this is only a mock-up, a running mockup. one look at the links and funky driveshaft angle should tell that. at some point I'll get another set of MLST shocks in, then I'll start on chassis design. I figure i will actually pivot the center axle about the double 3rd member mounts on the axle, and run the shocks at half compression so it can articulate without deflecting. Then 4-link the front and rear axles sprung for articulation and deflection (like normal). It is either that or swing arms and panhard rods, I haven't decided, but that is where chassis design come in. If I go the radius arm and panhard in fron, I could go for chassis mounted steering servo and run the linkage parallel to te panhard to reduce bumpsteer. and there are enough guys with axials trying to run different bodies, i should be able to pick up a couple of them cheap enough to try and make a 3 axle body. Nothing yet though, to busy with other christmas happenings |
