Default Weekend bash pics

My brother and I were sick of the whole indoors thing. So we decided get to something to eat and head to one of our secret weekend bash areas in the nearby town of Oregon this weekend. This was the first time my brother got to try out his new torsion on rocks.

Got the rally tires on this time of the year. Blizzaks

Then me having to walk down.

Upon arrival to the bottom we found that the river had pushed these large ice chunks a shore. Moabs were actually ok on them.

Big wall of rocks.

We drive the scalers out here most of the year. But, it's really abusive on the leaf springs. Supers were easy to drive over most of the level areas.

The Moab Xl's really grab the small sharp rocks. My brother wasn't having much luck with the standard moabs.

Thats all for this week, we ususally head out every weekend somewhere. Maybe next weekend we'll have more pictures.

Looks like fun! I cannot wait till it warms up.
Zach's rig looks like it has an extremely wide track width from behind when compared to your stick Ben, I realize Zach has regular Moab's and you have XL's, but still looks a lot wider, increases the likely hood of hitting gate markers huh?

Yeah at this point we still have snow in the shaded areas. I think we got a storm or to you guys missed out on. We got a lot or rain that just made piles of ice.

Yeah big time, some people last year were getting their panties all in a bunch calling me off as cheating, as my truck was the only one with a narrow track width to breeze though most of the courses. As it sits it is perfect, not to narrow not to wide. Remember the narrowness also helps the steering angle and knuckle leverage big time. Going narrow was the best mod I made to the clod. These Xl's are not as good on slick rock as the OG moabs. But, the narrowness and height does help.

I feel better about my narrow track width now
Setting up my new torsion rig I didn't like how wide it was with the new Axial Narrow wheels and some offset adapters which allowed clearance for knuckle packs, so I decided to do away with the knuckle packs and adapters. My only concern was increasing the likelyhood of sideways rollovers, but I'm not too worried about it at this point.

Yeah its there, but you really don't notice it as much as a reduced stability when flexing. But, with the narrower width you can fit over rocks much better as the axle no longer drags as much. The narrow width helps keep the tires on top of things.

Is that a homemade chassis like your C10?

Yeah only far more simple. Just a bunch of screwed together aluminum channel. Two rails, couple cross members, and a skid plate. It's really effective though, his truck really crawls great. The long WB makes the truck climb very well.

Nice rig
Seeing your C10 at the comp we had back in January at HT made me want to build a scaler. I need to complete my Super, then it's gonna be time for a scale rig.....
