Just moved to Rock Island from Wisconsin. I hear they do some crawling at the Blackhawk State Park here in the QC area. Been snowing since I moved here so I haven't had a chance to check out any of the area. I've just been working on bulletproofing the truck so she'll be ready when the ground dries up...

I've been doing some research on the area and guys have told me they usually get together around the Blackhawk State Park along the Rock River on the south side of RI. I have also found some info on the Mississippi Palisades Park about an hour north od the cities that I may check out. It would really be nice to see some other crawlers out there so if anyone wants to brave the cold let me know. I been itchin'for a good crawlin' since the snow started flyin'!

nothing to speak of at Palisades outside of Savanna. Back in the 50's they planted trees all over the park and now there are no good rock formations for rc crawling. There are some cool formations that people fall from every year though... Im out there about once a month and have explored most of the areas, Mt Carrol city park has some good crawling but, you have to know where your going to find them as its about 1/2 mile hike with about a 10' verticle climb.

There has to be some good places somewhere along the Mississippi. I drive to WI every day and see all kinds of formations along US 61. I bet if a guy was in the right spot he'd get lucky out there somewhere.

Stopped in thunder road today. They have some axial stuff, and tons of offroad stuff. They dont have any course. But they talked about building one. Alot of the local racers have crawlers. Hoping they will get something together.

Exclamation Off Road Get Together??

Now that the SCX10 is out, I assume there are going to be a lot more scalers out there looking for company/competition. I was thinking we may be able to organize an off-road get together and have competitions and just have some fun. I have already had my trucks out this weekend and there are a lot of places in the cities where scale off roading is possible, i.e. parks, riverfront, hiking trails, etc. Any small patch of land would work great. I was kind of thinking about something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1_flY8lxO8
If anyone would like to get together for something like this let me know.

Later:-P
