Default Chronicles of Carnage

Got pictures of carnage? Share them here. I thought it would be interesting and informative to share pictures of breakage, smoking electronics etc, good for laughs, maybe good for learning What Not To Do?

I'll start off with my most recent (expensive) mishap: Smoked my HiTec 5955TG :-(

Disappointing thing with my HiTec servo, it smoked while sitting still, this was rear steering on my super, I have been noticing that the servos were getting hot, and only after 10 or 15 minutes of running, I hear that the deadband needs to be opened up, basically makes the servo center position wider, this way the servo doesn't constantly fight to achieve such an accurate center position, but go figure the digital programmer for changing the deadband is over $135, and I think it only works with HiTec servos.....

Lesson learned the hard way, this 5955TG cost over $100 :-(
I will be sending it in to HiTec for repair though, I hear they are good about warranty work, we'll see.

I have one of the Hitec servo programers if you would like to use it remind me to pack it before the next comp. I'm not sure if I'll make the farm crawl yet. I'm out on the road all week and a couple friends will be in town for a car show this week end.

Thanks Brad

I would definitely like to use your programmer, open up the deadband a little.

I would also. I just got a 7955 and it likes to buzzz at the center point. Why is it that Hitec digital servos are the most vocal of the breed?

I just want to give credit where credit is due. I sent my burned up servo into HiTec for repair, approx 12 days later I received a NIB replacement servo No questions asked, no shipping charges, no repair fee, just a brand new replacement servo in the mail

Not too often do I experience customer service like this, thought I should share the experience! Needless to say I will continue to purchase HiTec servos

A whole new way to strip a hex, happened at the last busse comp.

Other half as you can tell by the glue residue I glued it. It held up through the last course and bonus gate.

Stripped the wheely king trans gears. Using this as a transfer case in the C-10. Never did lock the stock slipper out so I was sort of suprized it went. The gears are chunky huge pitch.

Yeah ordered the alum ones from CKRC. RC4wd makes steel ones but they cost 3 times as much. Since I'm using this thing as a transfer case I don't really need two slippers.

The CKRC gears actually have a slipper. Just don't install those lock out screws and it functions exactly the same as stock.

Fell off a big hill last night at Devils lake and landed square on the rear shock. Yeah they are Losi aluminum shocks.

Bent the screw holding it on as well.

Thought it might just be the plastic retainer cap that took the blunt. Bent the body as well though.

Oh and some how the balance plug got pinched between it all.
