Default New Crawling Spot (part two)

Same location but a different truck. I did alittle ice burg / rock crawling yesterday at the beach. The truck is almost finished and i had to get out and see what she can do. It started as a stock Axial scorpion but i went for a scale or trail truck instead. It has a TCS x-trail chassis with Axial running gear and tons of hand made custom parts. I'll get some pictures posted soon.

Well i go here as much as i can, and now that the truck is done i'll be there even more. The cool thing about the beach is the tide will change the landscape alot. Some days more of the rocks will be exposed and others they will be covered with sand. Plus those hot days just jump in and cool off.

we could use another comp location, just wonder if its too far. Looks like a heck of a day trip. Pack the fishing poles and swim trunks.

Could you post up either a Map to this local or an address or something???

Default Map

Here is the link for Mapquest to get to IL Beach State Park. To get there from 94, exit Grand Ave/Rt.132 East, turn Left on Rt. 21/Milwaukee Ave, veer right onto Rt. 41 North, turn Right on Wadsworth Road East. Take Wadsworth Road east until it dead ends at the beach. Follow the path around and park at the furthest lot you find.

It's about 5 miles east of Great America/Gurnee Mills/Key Lime Cove---FYI.

I'm pretty familuar with ill beach state park. I just have a couple questions. Where exactly are you crawling?

I assume it is at the south unit, north of the resort, and just north of and adjacent to the main beach??

Is would assume from the picks the crawling would be pretty good for a mini crawler and a 1.9 scaler??

I haven't been there in a while soo....

Yes, you are correct. It is that location, if you park at the end lot and and walk on the trail (away from the beach but towards the old nuclear power plant) that is were i crawl. There is a sign with the number 13 on it and that is where i start. 1.9 ers would do ok in some spots but as long as they use tall tires, i will be done with my 1.9 JK soon and try it out . If you look at my first post "new crawling spot" i have my 1.9 FJ cruiser at the beach and there are some pics. Overall it is a good location and i will sometimes bring the slash with paddle tires.
