hmph.. the more i try to figure out how to make these drivetrain changes the more i think 'if it aint broke dont fix it.' i started out just wanting to nudge my steering servo fwd a tad and burn-in some rulr mounts. and make a lightbar... wheels or tires were too small. |

Bleah... still can't decide on what to do for my new Class 2 build! But am making some progress on the lights for the Gelande II. And even rebuilding my RC8T while I await for my frames to come back from being blasted (tad worried). |

It's sounding like he's saying the wheels are too small meaning the offset is not enough so, there is rubbing. But, then again.. I'm not sure how one can learn anything by not being there! Johnny! boobies got the better of you! back to the drawing board. |

Ok, I have two sets of wheels & tires you can try on. 1st set: 265/70/16 = 30.6" x 10.43" theoretically (damn near a 31x10.5) 2nd set: 285/75/16 = 32.83" theoretically Here's how to do the math to figure out what your metric tire size is in inches. example tire (265/70/16): tire width (265mm), multiplied by sidewall height which is 70% of the width (x .7 =185.5mm), divide that by 25.4 to convert metric to standard (/25.4 =7.303") and multiply that by 2 because you have a sidewall on each end of the tire (x2 =14.606") now take the number and add your wheel diameter of 16" (+16" =30.6" overall diameter). Now try with your tire size and we can determine what actual tire is currently on the vehicle. 235/75/15=28.875" which means a 31" tire is over 2 sizes bigger which is about the size of increase the rest of us did. personally, I want to see what my 265/70's look like on your truck. 3rd gen 4runners are bigger than earlier gens. the tires aren't small. I think that is even a size up from stock on the 3rd gen. They might look nice & meaty on your truck and be a significant increase in size. Last edited by Die-Laughing; 03-09-2014 at 01:46 PM. |

This was my sunday. It sucked, but it turned out pretty awesome. Trimmed the fenders, cut and fold on the 1/4's. Johnny. Why werent you there to check the fitment of the tires on your truck? I say you try out ricks setup and see how it works. |

No. But they arent really needed. They work as good as a hammer and common sense from my experience with them. They cause about as much damage too.
