Hey guys I've not forgotten about the tow strap thing I've actually been trying some stuff between builds and to be honest the shoe string thing works ok.... I feel there is a bit to be desired. After a little use they end up looking kinda beat up. Functional but just not what I'd like to have after a little use. I'm really wanting to make something better. Do you guys think 3/8" is too wide for a tow strap? I'm thinking about making some from some real nylon webbing. I've gotten all the little issues with the fraying and all that taken care of I can hot knife them and it leaves a nice heat sealed edge. The problem is I cannot find any materal that is narrower than 3/8". The nice thing is there are a ton of different color selections. If you guys don't think 3/8" is too wide I was going to order some (blue ) It's my favorite color and makes some and see how they turn out. Photo Details There are even a ton of patterns. http://www.strapworks.com/PhotoDetai...tCode=PEWPAT38 Those are just a few of the colors available. I could even do some out of tubular nylon but that would move the width to 1/2" but the strength could be crazy strong. Last edited by WarTrader; 04-18-2012 at 07:04 PM. |

| Re: NIRC. Chit Chat Dude, that's awesome! I've been thinking about doing something similar to this to my class 2. I really like my '72 chevy and it performs well but it could use a smaller body and some front/rear dovetailing. It's just so huge! Might be my first attempt at brazing. One thing at a time though. I gotta get my class 1 chevy done first. I need to get back to work on it!

Zero that is a really cool truggy! R2J does great work... Well, I took the day off and I'm heading up north to my buddies house. Him and his 3 year old little girl are going to help me with my soldering woes. |

Man the Yellow and Orange ones are dead ringers for ARBs Tree Savers and Snatch Straps. Hmmm, Snatch Straps? sounds like another name for a thong. Nice rig Chris. should order some scale Diamond plate to work on the bed part, would look cool there. I did find some scale expanded metal plate, bought a 8" by 12" piece to play with. Quote:

Plastruc makes the plastic. They make a 1/166, 1/48 and 1/100 size. I used the 1/16 on my D90. TowerHobbies.com | Search Results The expanded metal came from McMaster-Carr. McMaster-Carr. I ordered the Aluminium as I thought it looked the most scale but it has to be bolted on as I have no clue how to braze dis-similar metals. |

| Re: NIRC. Chit Chat YES!!! eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices gonna chop this up and put it under a speedpal zukie body with yota axles... it wont be completely scale to my 1:1 but close. maybe instead of the speedpal i could use an axial trail ranger and just work the rear lexan to look like a tintop zukie. i have wanted this chassis for awhile!!!! |
