where to in bloomington

so are there any good spots in or around bloomington il to go crawling at?

jetboat 11-23-2011 04:48 AM

short answer... not that we have found.

Some of the guys have home courses down in Decatur and I have my course over in Champaign/Danville.

I've been in Bloomington for three years and still looking for a spot. I did find some nasty rip-rap off of Hamilton along the tracks by SF's Corporate South complex.

I think I saw an area near Constitution Trail off of Hershey, I have to check it out.

benny27 11-23-2011 05:52 PM

that is no good. I want to get a rc but if there rally is no where to run it
maybe I should get a mrc

I think I found a spot to run a mini rock crawler. The Financial Office/ Bank next to the Jewel on Oakland and Mercer has some decorative rock by their drainage. Only problem is that it is private property.

Did you scout out any thing over at Miller Park?

Also there may be something out at GE Park.

Its "private property" but my friend owns the land and all the "stuff" on it so he lets us crawl out there.

Go to this page (http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/super...per-build.html) and you'll see some newer pics of outdoor course and couple of indoor for cold days of crawling, just scroll down towards bottom of page to see. I'm buddy of the guy from Leroy that lives in Stanford which is about 13 miles west of bloomington

I'm new to this RC Crawlin thing but so far I'm having a blast I live here in Champaign. I just acquired an axial wraith not really a comp crawler but I really like the scale crawling and would love to see how it's capability and my skill would do next to some of the ax10 crawlers. 8)

Finally found a small spot in Bloomington. Rollingbrook Park off of Hershey between Lincoln and Oakland. The area is small and the cluster of rocks are separated by lots of vegetation but it has some interesting breakovers, sidehills and ledges.
