Just seen concealed carry passed in IL

Illinois officially legalized private carrying of concealed guns on Tuesday as both houses of the legislature voted convincingly to override Gov. Pat Quinn's veto: the House by 77-31, and the Senate by 41-17. The new legislation requires a background check and 16 hours of firearms training to purchase a $150 five-year concealed-carry license; as a "shall-issue" law, Illinois State Police must grant the license to anyone with those credentials. Illinois faced a Tuesday deadline to adopt a concealed-carry provision after a federal appeals court ruled in December 2012 that the state's ban on concealed-carry was unconstitutional.

Hopefully now all the idiots can just shoot each other off and that'll be the end of Cooks high crime. Seriously. Chicago the 13th highest crime rate in the entire US as of "11. I think it's a good thing. A robbers less likely to rob a store or burglarize a home if its possible everyone in there is packing. Puts them on the same playing field w/ no upper hand. Ill bet there's a long line and wait too. I even bet almost half of il citizens even qualify and less than half of them want to apply.

I'm willing to bet that everyone involved in those shooting (or at least the shooters) shouldn't have been in possession of a firearm in the first place. The concealed carry is so the good guys can carry a weapon as well.. Legally. Whoever HAS BEEN carrying a firearm shouldn't have been and most likely is a criminal.

Before this, A criminal could arm himself and go into a diner with 30 unarmed pedestrians inside and rob the place at gun point. I'd like to see the big balled son of a bitch that will attempt to rob that diner in the future when statistically 10 out of 30 of the people inside are also armed and willing to take his ass down legally.. And, you don't know who's carrying and who isn't.

IMO Concealed carry doesn't = More or Less shootings. Probably just less innocent people on the shitty side if the gun.

Now Il residents can Pay a small fortune for classes, to take a test, to pay a stupid high fee, to ask permission for a card to let you exercise your RIGHT to bear arms in certain places.

So not sure if any of you guys are that gun savvy but if you are .... What would you recommend in the sub $300 range that's not a revolver and super small for CC.

For carry? 9mm Glock 26 is what I run. Lookin at closer to $500 though at least.

Search google for good carry firearms. There are a lot of good weapons available.

Well I could spend more yes. Ideally the smallness and reliability are most attractive to me. It's gotta last years being banged around here and there if the law doesn't go right back down the crapper.

closest to your price and reliable would be the Ruger LCP, I have 2. Add the Hogue grip and its a great feeling gun. My shop down in Homer IL (closer to you) runs a Saturday special of $329 with no sales tax. The grip is $7. Its only .380 but the balistics on the home defense rounds are outstanding.

Above $500 get the Springfield XDs in 9mm (if you can get one).


If you guys havent, join the ISRA. They are the ones that got us conceal carry. The board pres lives around the corner from me and is a will cnty board member.

I stopped by the Liberty Guns in Homer to pick up 8mm Mauser... He didnt haveanybut, he did have a XDs 9mm. I couldnt help myself...
