TTC in Northwest Indiana Nov. 4

I came across this in the competition section, thought it should be posted in here too.

C.P. Crawlers (new club build recognition) will be hosting their first semi-annual T.T.C. It will be november 4th and will be held at Stoney Run County Park in Leroy Indiana about 30 - 40 minutes away from Chicago. Entry Fees are $15 in advance and $20 day of competition additional rigs maybe registered to you at an fee of $10 each. 3 classes will be held 1.9, 2.2, and unlimited (run anything with 4 wheels). Competition will include at least 4 events more if time allows. The main events are: Trail rock crawl (mixture of rock bed and forest trail), Forest trail run, water and mud course, and Team trail obstacle run (this run will be a 45 - 60 min run). Prizes will be given to top 3 finishers in each class. Food and beverages will be available as well as a huge playground for kids.

The 45-60 minute run sounds like fun. I may have to take a trip for this, should be a great time.

Is this event still a go? I would like to come and be a spectator. I am trying to figure out what vehicle I am going to buy. :)

I heard from Matt yesterday, he says its still a go. Got some nice sponsors lined up and would like a head count. If you can post up whether you are going or not, he would appreciate it. That way he can get enough food and stuff.

Yes this is still a go!! We have great support from G&G Hobby as well as R.C. Rock Armor. The T.T.C. is Sunday Nov 4th at Stoney Run Park in Winfield Indiana (basically Crown Point). First Event is at 10am with Check in for competitors from 830 til 930. There will be Coffee and Doughnuts in the morning and Hot lunch in the afternoon. There will also be a r/c vehicle up for raffle with proceeds going to a not-for-profit. Prizes are given to top 3 finishers in the 3 classes. Hope to see you all there either as spectators or competitors

Does it cost anything to enter stoney run park? Can I just do the rock crawling course if I want? What time are you going to run the rock crawling course? I competed in 2 events in illinois when i had a regular rock crawler. Best I did was 7th place. My truck didn't have a dig on it thoigh.

Re: TTC in Northwest Indiana Nov. 4

Good question. No it does not cost anything to enter stoney run park. The entry fee for the event is $20 and that includes doughnuts and coffee as well as lunch. if you want to spectate that is fine as well.

Re: TTC in Northwest Indiana Nov. 4

I only get 100 bucks a week. I just got 80 this week so I don't have enough money for the entry fee. I will just come out to spectate at 10 a.m. and run my truck after the competion is over. What time will the competion be over? I went to stoney run once but I didn't see any place to run my r/c truck. I think it was in the 1990s when I went there once. I used to have racing mountian bikes. That sucks there is a entry fee. I know 2 clubs out in illinois that are free. They have score cards and gates.

I wanted to start a club before but I didn't think I could find members around here.

Re: TTC in Northwest Indiana Nov. 4

I've done research on the park at the park and in the park I have found a great course for running these 5 courses and as for the entry fee the entry fee is only there because there are prizes being awarded if this was a regular get together there would be no fee it would be completely free

Re: TTC in Northwest Indiana Nov. 4

I just drove to stoney run earlier. It was a long drive. Longer than what I remember. I need to take u.s. 30 east to broadway south to 231 east to get there. I took that route back but on the way there I went down through winfeild.

Re: TTC in Northwest Indiana Nov. 4

I don't think I will be coming. I don't want to drive that far be out in the cold and I can't compete. Plus I'm not a talker. People are always very chatty at comps. It's like more of a social event. Ha,ha

Re: TTC in Northwest Indiana Nov. 4

I will not force anyone to come out. This comp was created for the fun and excitement of the hobby. The $20 entry fee is to help with the prizes that include a Axial Dingo Build Kit going to 1st place, RC rock armor rear bumper with drop hitch going to 2nd place, Gift Cert for Pro-Line racing going to 3rd place. That is just for the 1.9 class. There is also a 2wd Stampede brand new in the box being raffled off for charity. My greatest hope for this comp is to involve the community and raise awareness for not only R/C crawlers but also for the R/C hobby itself. This is a place to meet new people and make new friends and have fun with R/C in the mean time. All this was thought of, created by, and hosted by C.P. Crawlers a 1/10th scale Rock and Trail Crawlers Club based in Crown Point Indiana. With great thanks to our sponsors: G&G Hobbies Griffith In, Pro-Line Racing (prolineracing.com), RC Rock Armor (rcrockarmor.com), Signs On Time Crown Point In, Red Crown Super Service Merrillville In, and Memory Keepers Crown Point In.
