They said it wasn't the best comp spot. It was a small area with a cliff on ech side. I never did make it up there I took this summer season off. Palisades is also a fun spot. We have had several comps at Maquoketa Caves it is an awesome spot early or late in the season. Mid summer it is full of weeds and people. |

Actually very well. I am going to look for a thread real quick. If you want a CCC gopher I still make them, but cost more. They have the right size holes tapped and the skid is different. Here is a thread on the gopher I jump in on 2nd or 3rd page to give setup advice. "Hawaiian Gopher" a.k.a. "The Mongoose" Last edited by Cole82; 01-22-2008 at 07:22 PM. |

Backbone wasn't bad but it wasn't good either. It had a few great lines over awesome rocks but that was it. Bored after a hour. Since it was in a narrow pathway there were several visitors walking by. That Corralville place is still the best for comps. Mcbride is equally as good it's just hard to plan around with the constant water issue. Thats the thing with the Iowa parks. If there is a rain storm that passed through all 3 spots are underwater. That was the main issue I ran into at the end of the season last year. Cole setup another scale bash at the caves once the snow gets away. That was the most fun I had last year at the local comps. Yeah for details on that ranger. MWRCA Summer series Comp #1 The reason I stoped going there. Was that fact that everyone was driving so far to get there. I wanted to be super sure we wouldn't be asked to leave after driving so far. Rather then take the chance I just avoided it. I think the ranger was more concerned with the group size then anything else. You know more about the ranger then me Cole. That guy never said a word to me. That ranger was more worried about the rocks be damaged once he saw we were under the allowed 50 people. He didn't say anything else about the size. That is why he went down there and was checking the rocks to see if we hurt them. He thought our toys were able to damage huge slabs of bedrock. He also busted me on June not being on a leash twice. I told him the second time she jumped out the window and I didn't know she was out.
