| Coronado clean up.
I did a little digging and found out that Coronado is owned by the smokey vally historical society rather than being state funded. I "liked" society on facebook and dropped them a message telling them about who we are and what we like to do, i then asked if they would be interested in our help. I will let you all know what i find out.

Cool. They will probably be up to us doing some clean up since there isn't all the beurocratic BS to weed through.

here is the formal e-mail i will be sending to the historical society. I felt this needed a little more detail then the one i sent through Facebook the other night. i also want to get some feed back from you all, does this convey the message we as a group want to put across? feel free make comments on this. Greetings, My Name is Adam Ackerman and I am contacting you as a representative of a newly forming club. We are a group of RC enthusiast who operate electric powered 4-wheel drive trucks that measure roughly 15 to 30 inches in length. Our hobby focuses mostly on lower speed “rock crawling” and hill climbing. We organize our events in natural terrains that pose a technical driving challenge, an example would be a low river valley such as you find along the republic river in Northern Kansas or the Arkansas River and rocky out cropping such as those found at Coronado Heights. A few of us in the group have ventured up to Coronado several times either on our own or in small groups and have thoroughly enjoyed the natural obstacles it offers. As we are based out of The Smokey valley (a few live in McPherson, a few in Salina and I myself live in Lindsborg) we are looking to make this our “Home” trail area. This would include hosting a few socially minded events here each year with anywhere from 10 to 25 participants. As a group of nature lovers, we have all agreed that the main rules while on a trail run are as follows: - Always carry out more then we carry in -To never disturbed the natural setting in a damaging manner -To leave the area in better condition than it was found in This last rule is the main reason I am contacting you, we have noted that the trails on Coronado are over grown and some are falling into disrepair. I at first thought that this was a state run park, but now that I know it is privately owned by the society, I can fully understand how maintenance of such an area could fall behind. We are not judging, rather we are offering to help, as an organized group of outdoor minded individuals. As I said, we are newly forming, so much so as we have not yet even voted on a club name. however we are sure that we want to make Coronado our home and we want to do what we can to help with its care. We have also spoke about investing money into specific improvements and additions to the area, the details of which can be spoken of at a later date. I want to express that our intentions are not to bring any harm to the area, but rather to enjoy what it has to offer to our hobby and families. |

That sounds good! (You have a great way with wording btw!) You could even make it seem more "family oriented". Like when we go crawl we would bring kids or spouses along and cook and learn about the terrain/history of the place. The history really is neat, and the fact that it's so close to home should interest almost anyone! Just a thought... but your rendition looks great! |

Went up with ksbs456 today and his SCX10 as my Creeper is waiting on a axle that I sheared. Posted some videos on our facebook group.
