Default Twin rookie looking for 2.2 advise

After building a custom TXT1 i was hooked. I then decided to enter the 2.2 arena with an AX10. Ofcourse it didn't remain stock long. I picked up a Twin a while back with the idea of builing a tuber. After seeing what can be done by some on here and prefering my AX10 over my TXT1, i have decided to cut down the Twins. where is the best place to look for products available to cut these twin axles down? I have looked extensively on this site and found a lot of information but it seems to be scattered around. I am not the most computor literate so please forgive my ignorance.
I have also read there is different opinions on how to convert to 2.2 wheels/12mm nuts

Hi Mate,

I'm building a MadForce with 2.2" wheels. Haven't come up with anything off-the-shelf yet but will be sure to let you know when I do. When all else fails, I'll get some adaptors made up.

Cheerz,

Rtz

I guess he means TwinForce, as we're in the Twin Force forum. Could be mistaken.:-P

As far as wheels go....BY FAR the best option would be to run 17mm buggy hexes and these....Eritex Inc. 17mm 2.2's Just seeing those wheels...Heck,they'd be worth building a whole new rig just to run them.

As far as narrowing the axles, depends on the dog bones you use. Check the Sticky thread at the top of this section. TONS of info on building Twin/Mad Force axles. Including TONS of options for gears, dog bones,CVD/Universal shafts and more.

I did a write up on narrowing Twin axles, searching this section should bring it back up.

Offset pig is better actually. It can be difficult or add a challenge in mounting up links, shocks and servo's though. Centered pig is definitely easier.

Either way can be done,so it's your choice.

These axles are by far the most versital axles money can buy. I have made them from 9" hex to hex to stock width 12" HTH in a couple configurations. And they are easily made wider for large scale rigs. Let me dig up some pics for yuh

The top axle is a narrowed axle using 2 short IFW142 CV shafts. This will make the axles about 3/8" wider than using 2 short side dog bones and stock stub shafts.

The middle axle is a highly modified 12" (stock width) pig slammer. I will not be putting this in my newest comp rig because I proved to my self that wider is not better:-( And the bottom axle is stock

This is inside the pig slammer. A cut down IFW142 CV, a CDW spool, a MAKKEM built shaft, and a IFW162B long CV shaft \/

The cut down IFW142 CV was sleeved and re-pin'd \/

If you eliminate the MAKKEM shaft \/

And just use the IFW162B long CV shaft you can get a 10" HTH axle.

If you use a IFW142 short CV you can get a 9" HTH axle. Sorry no pic of that.

Any questions just ask away

Thanks for the pics. I am still collecting parts for the build but i hope to start it soon. For now i nave a couple of questions. !st is he last picture shown running 12mm and if so did you just drill out the centers? Second, how did you attach the "C" on the short side and how do you plann on mounting suspenson links?

Those are the stock 14mm hex's. Inside there is a custom aluminum piece that will be glued of screwed into place. Suspension links are still a work in progress. There will be one bolted into the side of the pig, another in the center and end. This may end up a 3 link with a track bar too.

Yotachump did a very clean job with his that is similar to mine

rob-b fabbed up a center link, but don't know if he ever finished this:-(
