| New link, shock and servo mounts for twin force...
Guys, Here are some mounts that I have made for my crawlers that use TF or MF axles. This set is made out of Aluminum and each one contains 12 tapped mounting holes for shocks, links or servo mounting. The mounts can slide in and out for adjustablitiy. I did a set very similar to this a while back out of delrin and have been running them on my first crawler for over almost 2 years now. As you may or may not see in this picture: because the mounting flange goes around 360 degrees, I will be machining off the unused portion on my new aluminum ones once I figure out the pinion angle on my new crawler. Also, you will notice in the pictures that I have made aluminum front servo mount and rear upper link mounts. You could run the servo mount in front and rear for 4-wheel steer. These mounts bolt up to the link/shock mounts that I have made. So what do you guys think??? Lata Matt P.S. In case the photos don't work, I have uploaded everything to my site |

looks pretty tasty to me. Have you tried to find a lower mounting spot for your upper links on the axle?

No I have not. I have run this crawler for a while now with this setup and it seems to run just fine. I think the only thing I need to do on that one is make the shocks more vertical to help fight the body roll since its a rather heavy chassis. What will lowering the upper links do to benefit me? Thanks Matt |

Those alu link-shocks-mounts are really nice, had I seen them before maybe I would ask you to sell me a set instead of making my own nylon ones. Are they cut on a lathe from a solid piece or welded flange and tube? Are you going to mass produce those mounts for sale? If so how much would you charge for a set of 4 mounts, shipped? |

RockSpider, Those are made from a solid piece of billet. You probaly saw the prototype (delrin) a while back. I will eventually sell these and the servo mounts in the future if i get enough iterest. Contact me via email, ltlwillie1280@hotmail.com if you want to buy a set. Thanks Matt |

Have you had any problems w/ the rear upper link mount swiveling?? I tried a similar setup and had that problem, so I switched to something rectangular so I could use 2 screws instead of one. Everything looks really nice, though!!! |

Having the upper link higher makes the roll center higher. Depending on your link config, this can contribute to articulation steer. If your chassis already rolls under torque, moving the upper mounts down might make the problem worse. Where is your roll center in comparison to the center of gravity of your chassis?

Is it not necessary to post in an old, dead thread, isn't it? |

MT_Power, it's not necessary to bash a newby just for posting a comment too, I'd say. The idea of these supports is good, I too am in the process of making mines similar to those. |
