!!! The super shafty back yard basher !!! all right folks, i've been wanting to build me a monster truck, bash around kind of rig for a while now. so after talking to rick he said he may have something i would be interested in. after some back and forth i finally got my hands on this prototype chassis from www.supershafty.com and boy was i impresses in the quality of this outfit! i plan on taking a lot of pics and asking the "old pro's" :ror: for advice since i have never built anything like this before. photo bucket is acting up right now, pic's to come soon. |
now rick told me in advance that the chassis did not have any upper link mount holes drilled http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/v...d/IMAG0211.jpg http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/v...d/IMAG0212.jpg http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/v...d/IMAG0214.jpg http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/v...d/IMAG0215.jpg http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/v...d/IMAG0224.jpg http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/v...d/IMAG0223.jpg |
the build parts yep i've never used revo shafts before, and except for that little e-clip i like em! that little s.o.b. popped out of my hands and i thought i would never find it! http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/v...d/IMAG0216.jpg shocks http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/v...d/IMAG0217.jpg beefy links! http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/v...d/IMAG0219.jpg http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/v...d/IMAG0218.jpg |
seeing this stout axle come together never gets old http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/v...d/IMAG0202.jpg now i plan on running two short sides and here is a couple videos from www.supershafty.com that will show some of the assemble of the axles. first is the straight axle tube adapters http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlNAL2tclUs and here is a video on cutting down the axles http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qWuuSVe-7E now im not going 2.2 on this rig but this is good info when cutting. first pic shows where i had to cut http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/v...d/IMAG0203.jpg now after i made this cut and got everything cleaned up i noticed that the hub carriers fit a lot tighter in the cut side so i had to do a little sanding on the hub carrier's to get them to fit, after that it's good to go. http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/v...d/IMAG0204.jpg |
rear axle all buttoned up! these link mounts that rick is offering sure is gonna make my life a lot easier! http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/v...d/IMAG0205.jpg |
i had picked up some axial wheels and some rc4wd x-locks a while back in the for sale section that will be just what im needing for this build. http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/v...d/IMAG0208.jpg |
axle pics |
i still need to take the front axle apart and put the shark fin on and mount the servo mount. but that's all i got done so far. here are a few pics of what the rig will look like once it's done...i hope:ror: http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/v...d/IMAG0220.jpg http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/v...d/IMAG0221.jpg http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/v...d/IMAG0222.jpg |

I can not take credit for this Chassis rather the design & concept comes from SnoopMaxx back in 2008!! I was browsing threw hundreds of threads one day when i came across this: http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showt...t=85030&page=5 I Thought that this design would be perfect for a BYB, so i contacted SnoopMaxx to see if he would share his drawing to test with and possibly go to production with it and he was more then happy to allow for this... Thanks SnoopMaxx "thumbsup" After some tweaking & reworking I had the Protype, that Buggy has now....... Great work Buggy......"thumbsup" Chassis is sized for 14" to 18" wheelbase I agree with you Buggy on "the shorter the better" We will have to wait and see What buggy thinks as he builds and adds his personal touches to this chassis, but i beleive that this chassis will be 1 of 4 other chassis that SuperShafty.com will be selling soon ;-) Regards V8 |
looks to be another great build buggy"thumbsup" i have found that these aluminum revo ends work great on the twin force pinion if you dont wont to drill them out. http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...coupler&cat=33 http://www.rc-monster.com/prodimages...pler_small.jpg |
Looks sweet ! I think I know what my next project is !! Great job buggy....and Rick, more goodness as usual. |
