1/8 Scale CJ5 "Snail build"

The original build thread is here: http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/large...0-1-8-cj5.html

Here is the back story:ror: I started building this in '08. I know bad Bart:cry: At that time there was little to no interest in scalers in my club and now everyone is building one for the 2012 season. SO, why not dust this off and post it in the board it is supposed to be in. The T/M Force board. Besides, this is where little Bart learned to walk. I don't see this build going fast means I've got 3-4 months of winter ahead but it will be done for the thaw of 2012"thumbsup"

So here is the new roller. And this could not have been possible without the fantastic parts from Super Shafty and my buddy Rick8)"thumbsup"

I'm leaning towards an Axial trany with a mild Brushless system. It's not heavy so i think a 21.5 SC system, 1400-1700KV unit would work fine.

Cordwood 11-28-2011 03:03 PM

Looks pretty awesome, like everything you put out.

So it just needs a tranny, motor and electronics? 3 months?...

v84x4 11-28-2011 06:52 PM

Yes, Yes.....!!!

I've been waiting for this for a long time "thumbsup"

I love the "Drive Shaft" Loop
Will wait as long as it takes for you to finish this Bad A$$ Rig
And maybe, When its done, I'll drive my Semi down to take it for a drive "thumbsup"

Regards Bro

Rick

My door is always open to you my friend8) The loop I added mainly to support the rear frame being cut. The thing I wanna see, or hear, is the metal hitting and scraping the rocks:ror:

Thanks Farmer, Kyosho brought this rig back from the dead. I like to think they listened to us. Rick makes it easier to make it more bullet proof"thumbsup"

Good job!

I actually think its a good thing it took 3 years to build, most guys (*cough* AX10 weenies*cough*) would quit. Its a sign of resilience. "thumbsup"

LMAO@above!:lmao:

Bart bender 12-01-2011 08:19 PM

You know, I've had this for so long. I just can't stop with this. I've had offers and just can't sell it. I'm a proud Pappa"thumbsup"

mjderstine 12-01-2011 08:48 PM

its a sweet rig man for sure.

so its a pure 2.2 scale right? narrowed axles and all that?

sweli 12-01-2011 09:12 PM

Great looking chassis, body and setup!
Really like the sprung axles!

What is the WB and track on it as it sits?

joeyf 12-01-2011 11:13 PM

very cool Bart. stocked to see this getting dusted off and put back to work.

Bart bender 12-02-2011 08:22 AM

Yep 2.2 wheels. That makes them about 17.5" scale. Perfect for a 1.1 rig running 44" rubber. The WB is 15" (120" 1:1) width front 11 3/4"(94") rear 10 3/4"(86")

Thanks guys"thumbsup"
