Default Kyosho's 2.2 Crawler Pic

I didn't see this posted...

This is Kyosho’s new crawler (prototype shown here), named the Rock Force 2.2. We don’t have a lot of info at this time, but we can tell you that it features an aluminum chassis with multiple shock mounting positions, includes a crawler motor and speed control and the axles use a worm drive which improves ground clearance. The engineers at Kyosho have also designed the truck to accept an optional front dig system.

We are keeping our fingers crossed, hoping it will make it to the states.

Awsome. I like the sound of the worm drive axles and optional front dig. They could be onto a winner there. A big company like Kyosho could do a lot for this sport.

Didn't someone here try worm gears and had a lot of trouble with slop/backlash?

Wow, a low slung rig that looks like it is up to date with current trends. And from a major manufacturer to boot.

I don't really like worm gears. I think that it is helpful to get the pinion up higher however a worm gear cannot be driven backwards, i.e. no more 2wd and freewheel.

I believe you could still do 2wd, but no freewheel?

Glad this found its way to RCC.

A little birdy told me that this isn't the only thing that the Red Army might be working on... Rumor has it that they may be working on something else that would be super dope!

Additionally, Kyosho America has formed a new company earlier this year. Joel Johnson, Gil Losi and Mark Pavidis have formed AKA (A.K.A.) to provide accessories to the RC industry. First up, buggy tires. Next... ???

Unlocks the rear driveshaft, at the rear axle. Worm gear drives will not freewheel, so the rear axle locks up, allowing you to spin and steer the front wheels.

Looks like it'd make a wicked rock racer. Being a Kyosho rig, you know it'll handle the abuse.

Sweeeeeet.... I like those axles. Kyosho would be stupid not to release this in the states.

It appears the dig setup is INSIDE the rear axle... also appears that the front axle could accept the same set-up.

Also notice the panhard-bar suspension.

I dig it.

How long until someone comes out with direct-replacement tube chassis?
