Damn you got some good hook ups . Well Im interested on how the dig operates as it looks promising. Also do you know what the ratio is for the stock gears vs the high speed?

I am interested in the high speed gears. I think this rig would make a great basher with a Tekin ESC. Push control could be used to keep the rig from halting to a stop and breaking parts. It would be like a flywheel effect.

How fast is it with stock gears?

I have video of the stock gears with a 27 turn motor at full speed. I am installing the high speed gears today and will take some video at full speed with the same motor for a basic comparison.

I have pics of the rear disconnect installation I will post shortly. The rear disconnect worked great during testing yesterday. A very smooth operation, in my opinion. I am tearing down the axles today to install the high speed gears, so I will see how the disconnect parts fared after one day of testing.

Great idea! I was also looking at the builds and noticed that there's plenty of room for a Cobalt Puller.

I just purchased a Tekin FX-R to test this out.

John, any word on the gears yet, Also what pinion size are you using? I noticed the Kyosho manual showed it could use sizes 17-25t. I guess I am gonna have to play around with motors and pinion sizes. p.s. thanks for all the good info.

I haven't had time to try out the high speed gears. I decided last minute to drive in the SoCal event on Sunday and need to get the truck set up for the event.

The disconnect clutch plate slides across a hex shaped axle section. Position #1 locks the worm gear to the axle for drive. Position #2 releases the axle from the worm gear and allows the wheels to free spin. Position #3 locks the axle to the axle case for dig position. Everything works very smooth. I am breaking down the axles now to look for wear on the system after testing all day yesterday.

I just finished inspecting the dig unit and there is no signs of wear at all. This dig really operates smoothly. No real moving parts other than one clutch plate that moves 1/4" back and forth.

The unit operated perfectly every time for me. The dig and truck will get a real test tomorrow as I am going to drive it at the SoCal event. I will let you know how it goes. I am running a Kyosho X-Speed motor and Kyosho Perfex KA-1 speed control. I am also running a reciever pack for the servo's.

Can this thing get any more killer. Axial better watch out. Kyosho now has the best rig on the market. Right out of the box even. As long as they can keep up with demand

Just finished installing the high speed gears and the wheel speed is great. Definately going to be an option part for those looking for the extra wheel speed.

Looking at the gear ratios John, hate to say it,but I feel they are a must have. On average,I'd bet 95% of all comp crawlers run a final ratio between 35:1 and 60:1. I run 38:1 in my rigs,2.2 and super, and it's prefect.
