On step 24, am I supposed to file off 0.7mm opposite of the already flattened side of the shock piston? Why was this not already done? Thanks.

IMO,thats a personal tuning tip. Not really necessary. Thinner shock oil will give the same results as putting another flat or a bigger flat. Try it stock and see how you like it. If the suspension is to slow for your driving style, add a flat, make the original flat bigger or use thinner oil. Just food for thought,a slower suspension will let you carry a wheel over holes and that can be a BIG help at times.

GREAT, thanks... I plan on using 20w oil. Now back to it.

These pistons are used in another application for Kyosho where filing isn't necessary. I haven't done mine and may not. A tip for building the shocks: 1. Build the shock and full it with oil until it is a little more than 1/8 from the top. 2. Slowly cycle the shock shaft several times to release any air bubbles under the piston. 3. Bring the piston up about half way, place the bladder on top of the shock, slowly return piston to bottom creating a vaccum on the bladder. 4. Carefully screw on cap. This is the best way to build these shocks IMHO. Let me know how it works for you! - David

Yeah I didn't file mine down, and don't plan on it. I use 15 weight in front, and 20 weight in back. Instead of filing a flat, I'd drill a hole anyways, that way you know it's exactly the same all the way around. Drilling a hole, or filing another flat would open some tuning options, but I don't think I need it.

1mm is pretty small. On a few trucks I've built,I've needed 2 or 3 1mm holes to make it work right. Other trucks, that was to much. Kinda time consuming, but starting with one 1mm hole then adding if needed is what I like to do. Or,you can take the easy way out and just swap to lighter oil if it's to slow.
