Nothing fancy - just a silver can & a Futaba 330 brushed esc.

Give us details about what's inside the truck, cause there ain't any tech in the post! We're in a tech forum after all...

Ok, so there's a little, but we want more!

Nice paint by the way.

Oh, my newbie status is showing .

As mentioned, it's running on pretty stock electronics at the moment with a Nimh pack. However, I plan to run an outrunner with a CC side winder.

In addition, I have high speed gear & dig option parts on the way.

The stock steering rod needs to be modified as it get caught by the rocks too easily.

Here are some WIP pics taken earlier in the month :

I like this rig. With the panther tires, it crawls well. Only caveat is that the pics depicts my first ever attempt at rock crawling on Saturday. So, I know very little.

Hey Joe, welcome to the forum! Remember me from the Savage section of the rcmonster forum? You'll like this crawler, it's got a lot of potential. Make sure you read up of some of the builds in this forum. We've got some good tech on how to get the most out of the RF.

What foams are you running in the Panthers? The paint job looks great.

Hi ken,

Happy New Year! I'll be reading up on the mods to make this crawler better. Currently running stock foam that came with the tires. Pretty soft foams.

In case you haven't read up on Panthers but they're very particular on foam setup. If you're using the stock memory foam it's too soft and will fold over when sidehilling. If it's the stock regular foam you should be ok. I'm currently running regualr Proline foam in the rear and Proline ultra-firm 2.2 truck foam with Panther memory foam wraped around the outside (cut 20mm out of the center) for the front. I'm also running full weight in front and half weight in the rear of my Vanquish DH comps.

Let us know how the outrunner runs.

Wow, u have really one some in depth homework. Thanks for the tip.

The rock crawling community here is nearly non-existent. I don't think I will be able to participate in any competition any time soon.

However, it feels really great scaling those rocks & mud & stuff. This is something that my other rigs cannot do.

Nope not me, because I probably wouldn't do that. For one I don't like your extensions, as it will cause weird side forces on the knuckle, and two, I don't like the servo horn facing up, because that too, will cause weird side forces on the knuckle. And they burn up servo power because they are also pushing at an angle.

Maybe it was greasypetey's?

Hey Joe,

how's it going? Bring that crawler with you the next time you're in town and we'll go crawling.

I run my steering with the inverted steering servo too. Not ideal but it's better than having the front link get in the way when crawling. So far no adverse effects and I'm even running the inner holes on the knuckles.

Here're some pics of my rig and setup.
