Default 10" (!) track width with these wheels

I am loving this crawler but something looked a little "off" to me - it is too wide, like a Wheely King. So a search for some new wheels was on.

Unfortunately these are not beadlocks, but they are cheap and narrow things up considerably. I saw these at Tower:

As mentioned previously, these are close in dimensions to the HPI Super wheels. I ordered a set and here are some comparisons...

This is what we have with the stock wheels (11" from wheel to wheel):

With old AX10 wheels (10 3/4" wheel to wheel):

And here are the Tamiya wheels (9 9/16"W, wheel to wheel):

Front view with Panthers (10"W):

It is not all good though.

...At full lock, there is very minor tire rub on the shock spring, even with shocks in the far forward position up top. I am going to try droop setup anyway so that will fix that.

...And the wheels clear the knuckles by a gnats whisker- the wheels do spin free with tight axle nuts. But in the next pic you'll see there is no room to use the inner screw bosses. If the steering drag link and cross link can all be mounted on the outer screw boss, I think it will work.

And here is a side shot. Even the large blue axle nuts fit nice!

For the rear, lockout links will also have to be lengthened and relocated to the outer screw bosses.

Suggestions and/or comments welcomed

Nice find. Spending less on wheels will probably be on people minds after they look at everything else they will be spending money on.

They actually look good too. I thought I had seen those in a different color too, like bronze or grey?

How does the hex area look? Beefy?

I would not label them beefy compared to purpose built crawler wheels. They are are the OEM wheels for the Durga I think (?)

The depth of the hex is 4MM; same as the Axials pictured below it.

pro line epic beadlock (rear on all 4) will bring you to 10 1/4 with no rub

at 10 inches there will be body rub too? some vendors are already looking to do aluminum beadlocks for the RF offset. we should just hold on and wait since gluing $18/pair tires is not a cheap experience.

For cheap wheels, I thought that the HPI Nitro Mesh wheels would be about as narrow as you'd want to go on a stock kit cause I just about rub in places. And these wheels are tough without a doubt.

10 1/2 wide. Seem fine to me. Since when was super narrow good?
