servo mount

i was wondering whether you can post some pics of your servo mounts and how you did it so i can get some ideas

i kno this has been done before but i couldn't find the thread

Alot of guys are using aluminum to build link mounts. Going that route you end up with a nice flat spot to mount your servo. If you aren't going that route,I swear the easiest way is to use 2 of the factory link arms,one for each side of the servo. Use a dremel or any other tools you have and trim them up like so.....................

i bought some of these then just drilled some holes and used some old 4 40 screws i had lying around to mount them.

did you just drill and screw them straight into the axle ?

if so how much room is there between the axle and the dog bones?

if you take a good look at the pics on my site there in my last post, you'll see that they are screwed to the sheet metal plate that supports the centre links of the four link

I am in the process of doing basically the same thing as above, only My servo will be under the upper plate instead of on top of, and the upper piece I'm using is angle, not flat. I will also be connecting each wheel directly to the servo saver instead of running a tierod bar.

It's not finished yet, so I can't take pics, but will in a couple days when it is.

ya same as it is a rather good idea

heres my second question if i run two servo's using a y connector and a 6 v reciever battery will each servo draw 6v or 3v

as i was thinking of using two servo's on the front axle to each wheel and a rod in between this is mainly so that i can flip the truck back over when it is on its side

it would mainly just be for show but should be getting about 30kg of power

They will both get 6 volts. The receiver powers itself and everything else from the battery or BEC in a parallel circuit, last time I checked. Make sure your receiver can handle the current of all those servos or poof. You may need to power the servos directly so current does not come from the receiver's power rails.

Here is a improved version of what I am using on the F/X truck. Pieces used to be Delrin, proved to "springy" so made aluminum this time around. This is on Mad Force housings, Twins might be different.....dunno as I haven't seen 'em close up.

The 2 bolts that go through the "ear" of the housing,are those the only ones holding the mount to the housing? That is just to cool,I likey ALOT.

Yep, two 3x10mm button heads go through the "ear" and into the mount. The mount being dead headed into the one axle collar (aluminum) helps sturdy things up too. Worked out pretty good, time for a beefier servo now

Are these for sale? If so, how much? etc?

They seem like they would strengthen the outer asembly quite a bit at the same time.

As far as I know the twin and mad axles are the same. No fact to base that on though. all the replacement parts for my twin axles are listed as madforce parts.

Well.............didn't have any plans to sell but if ya'll want 'em guess I'll have to look into it. Have already quoted another member $25 per aluminum plate minus the servo mount pieces, the black parts in my pictures. Am awaiting some specs for the Twin housings to see if the length on my parts will be ok for the Twins. These were made for Mad Force housings as that is what I am using in the truck. The aluminum part is 2.700 long, .785 wide and .200 thick if anyone else wants to help confirm the idea they will work on Twins. Post here or shoot me an e-mail.
The plates as stated, $25 each and will come with all required hardware to attach to your housings. Also will have 4 screws to use for the servo mount blocks. Thing is though, I designed the plate around my own servo mount blocks. So, dimensions might not work for other mounts. Dunno, I'll have to work up a price for a complete kit, plate and the blocks. anyway on with mine which wont be as neat as thatand will probably fit to servos on it

what thickness aluminium should i use i got
0.6mm or 2mm - is this right or will i need something alot thicker

That material I used for the servo plate is .187 thick (3/16"). If you have 2mm plate that might be a bit flimsy as that is only .078 thick. I'd at least go up to .125 (1/8").

i will try and find 3mm or 4mm

but while reading the article on your crawler someone found a company that you send them your design and they make it :-P

so this maybe easier - but cost more
