Default parts list for 4 link

My Twin should be arriving next week. Starting to get a parts list together for some misc. upgrades. First on the list is to setup 4 link. Need part numbers if you have them for making the links.

Will these work?: rod ends: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXHGB7&P=7

If so, suggestions for threaded rod size and what to use for the links? 1/8" fuel tubing for links?

Thanks.

those rod enes will work fine. get 8-32 allthread and a thread tap, and cover the allthread with some aluminum tubing (i forget what size though) or arrow shafts. on the main page there is a writeup about making cheap links. read it up.

My son used the Kyosho 6.8 rod ends,#8 all thread and 1/4" brakeline over the all thread. They seem to hold up VERY well. My son has a heavy finger kinda driving style and they hold up well,he's not broke the first one yet during a run. We stripped one out while doing some mods to the truck once but that was my fault. I just threaded the all thread in a tad to far and stripped it out.

I'm trying to convince my son that sometimes a slower approach is sometimes better. I think he just likes to see the truck bounce around and get crazy with it. Our last trip to the creekbed though,I think he's seeing the benifit of slower driving.

I'm using a heavier set up on mine. I use these rod ends.......

DuraTrax Large Ball Ends

and they take these balls................ 9mm balls

DuraTrax Kingpin Set

These make the 6.8 rod ends look like cheap little turds. These rods ends take #10 all thread instead of #8. I'm running 1/4" brakeline over the all thread and then 5/16" brakeline over the 1/4". I've been EXTREMELY rough with these and they haven't bent or shown any sign of wear. With a 17 3/4" WB I drag my links over everything,my links drag on more stuff than my axles do,IMHO,these are the cats meow

Do you have any good pics of your links? I'm in the market for some beefy links.

Sorry, nothing up close. Theres a few more pics in my "new and old" thread if you wanna check it out. All these pics were taken before I put the 5/16" brakeline on so now they are just a hair bigger and a little stronger. Just the #10 all thread and 1/4" brakeline was probly enough to hold up good enough. I figured as much as I use my links to slide on like skidplates,it wouldn't hurt to have a little more material,I then slid the 5/16" line over the 1/4"

Out doing some shopping today for the 4 link setup. I found at the local hardware store 1/4" aluminum tubing made from 6061 aluminum and a wall thickness of .049". I bought some Traxxas Revo rod ends (part # 5347) and 8/32" all thread screws into the Revo rod ends very tight. But, the 8/32" all thread needs a #29 drill bit which is just a bit smaller than the existing hole of the 1/4" tubing. An 8/32" tap with thread the hole in the tubing but might not bite like it should.

Question: Jump up the the next size all thread and drill and tap the 1/4" tubing and drill the Revo rod ends to fit the next size all thread? Or, just use the 8/32" all thread, go heavy on the Loc-tite, and put a nut on the all thread to lock against the 1/4" tubing?

O.K. Just did some experiments in the garage and found out the 8/32" all thread is too loose in the 1/4 tubing after tapping. The existing hole size in the tubing is exactly the size of drill bit for 10/24" threads. So it looks like I will go with 10/24" all thread and just tap the Revo rod ends and not drill them out. The Revo rod ends bulge slightly when screwing in the 10/24" all thread.
