Default Shocks

What is the most common long stroke shock for crawling? Is there any drawbacks to LST shock over a Savage? Thanks.

Well,I don't know the most popular,I'd guess a typical 4" (maxx sized) shock. I've run stock maxx shocks, aluminum threaded Savage shocks,X-Factor shocks and stock Twin shocks. I was the most impressed with the Twin shocks so thats what I use. Honestly, couldn't tell a whole lot of difference in the Stock maxx and stock Twin shocks. The Twin shocks seemed to have a little better quality and are a little longer than the maxx shocks,so I chose to use them. The Savage shocks,IMHO they are just to long and hard to mount. The Savage shocks,by looking at them, you'd think you'd gain a ton of travel. In all actuality,if you fully assemble them and compair travel with say,a stock maxx shock, you'll only gain roughly 1/2" or so. IMHO,it's not worth it,just lean the maxx shock at a slight angle and you can get the same or more travel than a Savage shock. The X-Factor shocks are nice pieces. I probly could have gotten them to work as well as the Twin shocks but never really adjusted them much. I liked the Twin shocks cuz they have a ball type mount at BOTH ends so they will move alot free'er(is that even a word ) throughout the suspention travel.

I agree with ^^^, the twins stock shocks are 5" which is great. They also make great travel for that length since the shocks can sink into the spring cups. My tf has a very respectable amount of flex while using them.

Now, savage shocks are true beasts. Although they only make a 1/2" more travel, but because of the geometry of suspension you get a lot more flex. I could have my front axle 90degrees to the rear. But, they made my tf sit way to high. I also had an insane amount of power twist. They are also almost impossible to fit in a truck that has a wb shorter then 17"

i lik ethe stock tf shocks for now, but i may try the savage ones again after doing some modding

The main issue I am having is in my 4 link setup. It seems that I need the truck way up high to get the articulation. So with that said I felt I needed the travel of the savage shocks. My CG is way to high and was wondering what I could do to lower it and still maintain articulation. I could post pics if it would help.
