Default twin diff making me mad!

I have spent 2 hours trying to get a twin ring and pinion meshed properly. It is continuously too tight, like the pinion is crooked or something is jacked with the housing. I have tried two different diff sets in the housing and it binds with both. I played around with the washer to no avail.

Anyone else have this trouble? I want to get the crawler done tonight and its the only snag!

I had trouble just like your talking about the other night. There was a lot of grease in the Diff area and I keep missing a shim that was hidden in the grease. I assembled it twice and missed it. The shim was in there where the bearing rides next to the hole in the axle tube, where the diff cups poke throught to recieve the dogbone :?

The shim made all the difference

That's the only thing I can think of .............

Hope it helps

I to had to try it a few times when I shimmed up my sons Twin axles. I got lucky when I shimmed up my helical cut gears in my axles and hit it the first try with great results. Shimming my sons aluminum gears though took a few trys to get good mesh, not to tight but not loose either.

The shims, like explained above,on the sides of the diff do get hidden down in the holes. They are so thin that they where hard for me to see them.

evidently the Twin housings dont like it when you flip the diff inside. I dont remember having a problem with my mad force housings like that. They should be the same, but there seems to be little differences all over the two trucks.

I flipped the diff, flipped the axle to compensate, and it's smooth as butter now. Too bad I broke my tranny ouput cup I was sooo close to being done.

Same here. I was flipping the diffs in the axle to make them turn the opposite way. I had to try a few cobinations with the hosings and shims untill i got both axles turning properly without binding. No parts left over thats always good :-P

Sry to here about your cup... get revo shafts http://bruteforce.freeownhost.com/cr...evoshafts.html
