Funny you should put that up, the namesake I had in mind has a red cape Only problem is... I'm good at engineering type stuff, but can't paint worth a damn, might be a custom made decal job |

Ok here we are, not really an update just some pics of alloy porn... The shocks I ordered from Team Bluestar arrived, and I'm quite pleased with them so far. The machining is nice and there seems to be plenty of movement in the rod ends which is great. I was a little suprised at just how big they are, the pics dont convey thier size lol The springs seem a bit too strong, but I'll see how they go on the truck once its running. Might use normal springs internally, on top of the piston. Good/bad idea? Here they are next to the tires on my Summit, and they aint exactly small! Rough measurements are 8" by 1" wide Just roughly in position, the lower mounting point is a snap but will have to have a think on the upper mounts, as yet again I'll need something machined up (Think I might be asking Dave to fire up his new milling machine for this one) Most immediate job is to get the front and rear steering links made and on, so I can get wheels on it for mocking up of height etc Anyone know what the distance from the centres of the two bolt holes on the steering arms should be... per chance? Sorry for lack of progress, just bought a Summit and it needed some work. Cool truck, but still gets dwarfed by this |

wow, those are huge man!!!! cant wait to see them mounted. sorry dont know the stock eye to eye for steering man, i usually just eye-ball it on the large size and then use a file to get it to the right adjustment. |

but there are 3 eyes on the rc4wd knuckle each is a different length too. but you get the most throw from the closest hole.

Just shimmed the driveshafts, flipped the steering blocks and cut off the standard link mounts. Got all the measurements for making the steering links and the front top shock mounts, so they should be made over the weekend with any luck. Dont know how to do the rears though, as the chassis rails are lower at the rear, so need to make a mounts that hold the top of the shock higher up. Thoughts? Last pic shows rail and shock. |

Yeah that looks really good, but its how to add it on to the frame while looking neat. I'm thinking a thick triangular block with a grooved milled out on the bottom to slide over the chassis rail, then bolted in place. Beefy and neat looking. Did I mention I'm a neat freak? LOL |

I was countersinking a screw hole on the axle and the drill grabbed, pulling itself through the shaft housing. Ordered a new half diff housing and knuckle. Should be ship shape by Monday Punch bag took a beating... Lol |

Pics coming soon, things going well. Looking at getting some custom made springs. I'm thinking about 3.5 lbs/in.... Axial rate that as super firm, so I'm guessing on this truck it would be about medium. What do you guys think? |
